The Silverbloggers Chronicles - Prompt Number 8 : Reminiscing my journey while shifting to new home

Greetings 🙏 my dear Hiveans and #silverbloggers community members. As a child, I was always happy when the time arrived for us to shift our home. As we were young with no responsibilities, it was like a picnic. New place, new friends, new surroundings etc. but the school remained same.

My Father being a Defense personnel, shifting of home happens once a while within the Defense area. But that was within our Defense campus. In the beginning, until grade 5, it was just a small 2 room quarters. After 9 years, we shifted on to a bit larger quarter which had 2 rooms and a small dining hall. Here, I stayed until I completed my degree and got married.

And this was the best time where I made lot of friends and had a great time with them. I still remember there was regular power cuts in our place, especially between 8.00p.m. to 9.00p.m. That was our studying time. For us, me and my age neighbour's, it was a heavenly time. The reason being escape from studies from our strict father.

But I have my respects for my father. Though he got lot of opportunities to get promoted and transferred to other states in North India he refused, saying our (ie., me and my siblings) studies would get disturbed .

Shifting meant a great job for my parents. Packing all necessary items from safety pin to our private vehicles was not that easy. Then shifting them via trucks was also expensive. And above all, once it reaches the destination, the unpacking of items was indeed another task, where the whole family got involved.

After completing my degree and few other courses for another 3 years, I got married and had to leave my evergreen memorable place o another state, once and for all. One year I had to stay with my in-laws and after that I left with my husband for good, to the middle east. That was another era of beautiful memories for 15 years where I gave birth to 3 lovely children and had been placed with lucrative job.

Once a home in the MiddleEast, where lot of dreams turned to reality.

But then the fact was, right from the time of our arrival to the MiddleEast until the time of departure, we stayed in the same home. It was quite a big flat, in the heart of the city. A beautiful era passed away leaving footmarks of beautiful memories. Looking back, its like a dream land - a place where my children learnt to speak, to walk, to play around etc. More than me, its they who are missing the home in the MiddleEast.

Now, for the last 8 years I am back to home in India and this being our permanent home, no more travels. From now on probably my children will travel for their career - higher education and job.

This was indeed a lovely prompt rewinding my journey from yesteryear until today. Thank you @silverbloggers community members for this wonderful initiative.

A few tips from my own personal experience while moving to a new place. Once you decided to move to your new home, first check the water and sewage facility. Proper sanitation is very important. And then start with the home if any kind of plumbing or wiring work to be cleared. Once done, you are at peace and can gradually move on. Surroundings are also one of the important factor.
