The prompt
How did you learn to ride a bicycle ?
Ha... this question is a real challenge. To be honest, in my school time ie., in 80's I was an introvert, which meant, to get into something or to try something new was out of question.
I was too shy to open up. When somebody pushed me several times, then I get a little guts to go ahead. It was like what if I have a fall, people will laugh, all these unwanted fear was swinging around my head.
My children were using this while in school
Now, they have their own bikes
This was purchased during their school time.
During 1980's the most trusted, popular and affordable cycle was BSA SLR, an all favourite among the younger generations. As we stayed in quarters, where the houses were one to one close to eachother, in most garden, you can find a BSA SLR which meant their are school going children in that home.
Fine now let come back to the question. My sister who was 5 years younger to me was very bold. And she was quite faster than me. She lesrnt bicycle at a very young age. One night, she said me why don't we try cycling in the open ground, which was right in front of our home. I said ok.
Aaah...... that was a dream come true. First I kept practicing only within the ground. Then slowly shifted to the road. The little wind coming in the opposite direction was a cool gesture giving me the initiative to drive more and more. At this junture, I tried to sped a little more. That's it.
With a creek, the cycle sped and turned and in seconds I was on the ground. The funniest part was, while riding I never saw anyone around but when I fell my father and my friends came with a bang laughing aloud. That is when I became a little bold.
From then on, every night I used to come out of mye all alone to try the bicycle. And here I learned too many things. Try try and try again if you need to achieve something , through this I learned confidence and patience. Above all, to overcome shyness, I knew we would be only a laughter stock if we don't step one step ahead. Thanks to my sister and father who took this initiative. And finally we had a BSA SLR in our garden too.
So this was my small journey. If you have any, together we can share and enjoy our experiences hosted by @ericvancewalton
The photos are captured by me. Happyday ahead friends.
So younger sister was the brave one or at least the bold one!
Bikes are great and it seems a lifetime ago that I learnt!
So you still see any BSA SLR bikes still around?
Yes my friend my sister was quite bold enough to try anything new. Regarding BSA SLR they are just less in number. Now too many cycles with different brand name.

You were way braver than me @shamis! I tried once, fell too hard, and gave up. I did ride a tricycle though when I was a little toddler though😅
Dear Mam, honestly speaking I decided many a times to give up. But then I will be the only one in the quarters, not knowing to ride a bicycle. Many a times I fell, infact, people used to laugh looking at me. 🤣🤣
