Electrum also offers a Lightning mode. However, to send or receive via Lightning, you need to open a channel, which requires an on-chain transaction and therefore incurs fees. “You must have an open Lightning channel.”

Lightning channels add that extra onchain fee layer yeah makes sense for bigger moves but extra friction for quick sends
