A Homecoming Birthday Bash for Sway at Café Laguna, NUSTAR Cebu

After four long months of working (and slaying) abroad as a Virtual Assistant, my sister Sway finally came home—and what better way to welcome her back than with an intimate birthday celebration surrounded by family, close friends, and lots of good food?

Sway turned 28, and while we usually keep things simple, this one felt a little extra special. Being away from us for quite some time made her homecoming hit different. So we decided to have her birthday dinner at one of our favorite spots in NUSTAR Resort Cebu—Café Laguna.

Now, if you know us, you’d know that Café Laguna has a permanent spot in our foodie hearts. It’s that go-to place where the flavors feel familiar, comforting, and absolutely satisfying. The prices? Not too heavy on the pocket, and yet the quality of the food makes you feel like you’re dining in style.

For Sway’s birthday spread, we didn’t hold back. We indulged in their Seafood Platter (because hello, we’re seafood girls through and through), the all-time favorite Kare-Kare, and the perfectly sour and hearty Sinigang na Hipon. Of course, there were more dishes on the table, but I might just start drooling again if I list them all down!

The ambiance of Café Laguna matched the vibe we were going for—relaxed, cozy, and classy. It was just the perfect backdrop for all the laughter, catching up, and a few teary-eyed moments (because Sway being gone for months was lowkey emotional too!).

After dinner, we headed over to Fili Café for a caffeine fix and some more chika. Coffee was smooth, the vibes were immaculate, and it gave us just the right excuse to linger a bit longer in the company of people we love.

Sway’s 28th birthday wasn’t a big, flashy party—but it was filled with what truly matters: good food, real conversations, and the warmth of being back with the people who missed her most.
