The Day I Made My First One Million – A 24 hour I will Never Forget
There are some moments in life that leave a permanent mark on you, not because everything was perfect, but because of how far you’ve come. For me, that moment was the day I made my first one million naira from a business deal. It wasn’t just the money that shocked me, it was how it all happened in just 24 hours. That day changed everything for me.
I had been running a small business for a while, buying and selling certain products in bulk. I started with very little. At the beginning, it was hard. Some days, I didn’t make anything. Other days, I was just trying to break even. But I stayed consistent, even though many people didn’t understand what I was doing.
One day, I got a call from someone who had been referred by a friend. The person needed a large supply of goods urgently. I had never handled that kind of quantity before, but I knew this was a big opportunity. I told him I could do it, even though I wasn’t completely sure how I would pull it off.
Immediately after the call, I went into action. I reached out to my regular supplier, sorted out prices, and calculated logistics. I didn’t even have all the money required, so I had to borrow from two friends and added some of my savings. I took a risk, but I told myself that if this worked out, it would push me to a whole new level.
Fast forward to two weeks after delivery, I still hadn’t been paid. The client kept saying “I’ll pay soon,” and I started getting scared. The money I used wasn’t fully mine. I was already imagining the worst. I prayed, I stayed calm, and I kept following up without being too pushy. I just kept holding on.
Then, one peaceful morning, I woke up and saw a bank alert on my phone. The amount had too many zeros, so I sat up and looked again. It was real. One million naira. I checked the sender’s name, and it was the client. My heart was beating fast. I didn’t scream. I just kept whispering “Thank you, God.”
I took a deep breath and sat on the bed quietly. Everything flashed in my mind, the struggles, the insults, the nights I almost gave up, the days I had to go out in the sun looking for buyers. It all made sense now.
I didn’t rush to spend the money. I left it untouched for that whole day. I told my mum, and she was so happy. She held my hands and prayed for me with tears in her eyes. That prayer meant more than the money itself. I treated myself to a small meal and just stayed grateful the whole day.
That 24 hours made me believe in my own ability. It was a turning point for me. I learned that faith, risk, and persistence really pay off. Since then, I’ve been more serious, more focused, and more confident. That first million showed me that my hustle is valid, and that bigger wins will still come.
When you work hard and smart with the mindset of not giving up and always being consistent in what you do, definitely there will always be a reward for you and you were rewarded for your efforts. Always believing in one's self regardless of what people say is one surest way to success, I hope to hear about making more millions again 😁. Thank you for sharing @ruhlar
