My Favorite Strategies and Combinations in the Going the Distance Ruleset | Splinterlands Social Media Challenge
Hello friends, I hope everything is going well in your life. In this week's Splinterlands Social Media Challenge, I'll be talking about my favorite strategies and combinations in battles with the Going the Distance Ruleset. Only Monsters with a Ranged attack may be used in battles with the Going the Distance ruleset. I can say that I really love the Going the Distance ruleset, as my deck is rich in Monsters with Ranged Attacks. Additionally, I would like to say that I was able to win more than 75% of the battles where only Ranged Attack Monsters were available, so this week I wanted to talk about the Going the Distance ruleset, I hope it will be a useful article for beginners.
In this article, I will talk about my favorite combinations and strategies in battles with the Going the Distance ruleset, and then I will share a few of my battles to support what I say. In order not to make the article too long, I will not describe the battles in detail, I will only briefly talk about them.
One of my favorite strategies in battles with the Going the Distance ruleset is to reduce the attack power of enemy Ranged Attack Monsters, that's why the combination of Quix the Devious Summoner and the Headwinds Ability is one of my favorites.
Quix the Devious and Headwinds Ability
Reducing the Ranged Attack of enemy Ranged Attack Monsters with both the Summoner and the Headwinds Ability works very well for my team in many battles, so I prefer this combination in battles with the Going the Distance ruleset.
Currently, I have Queen of Crows, Ash Mirage and Anachron Bolter cards in my deck, which can attack with Ranged Attack and have Headwinds Ability, and I plan to include Naga Windmaster or Level 3 Endura Brune in my deck soon.
- Headwinds Ability : Reduces the Ranged attack of all enemy Units by 1.
Runic Skyclaw

In battles, it is very important to defend powerfully as well as attack targets powerfully. No matter how powerful a monster attacks the target, its attack is useless if it fails to hit the target. That's why I attach great importance to defense in battles with the Going the Distance ruleset. And Runic Skyclaw, which is perfectly defensive, is my favorite card. For Ranged Attack Monsters, the Runic Skyclaw is a complete nuisance; it is incredibly difficult to hit and damage Runic Skyclaw. I also increase this difficulty a little more by including the Martyr Ability into my strategy. Since Runic Skyclaw has the Flying Ability and high speed, it is a monster that has a high chance of evading Ranged Attacks and Melee Attacks. Additionally, reducing the speed of all monsters on the opposing team and increasing the speed of the Runic Skyclaw slightly increases the chance of evading attacks.
Ilthain and Anachron Bolte
Using Ilthain and Anachron Bolter cards together is one of the combinations that can work very well against Ranged Attack Monsters. The low level of both cards in my deck prevents me from choosing this combo. However, in the future, when I upgrade my Ilthain Summoner card to level 3 and Anachron Bolter card to level 4, I have no doubt that this combo will be my favorite because even though their levels are low, they can help me a lot in winning battles with Going the Distance ruleset. Also, if the Amplify Ability was included in this combination, it could be very cruel for the opponents, but there is no Ranged Attack Monster with the Amplify Ability in the Life Unit. (As far as I know)
I can say that I have been able to win many battles with the Going the Distance ruleset when I can use even one of the strategies I mentioned above. If you have a different strategy in this ruleset, I would appreciate it if you could briefly mention it in the comments. I will share a few of my battles below to support what I have said above, but I will not talk about the battles in detail so that the article will not be long, but if you have a question you would like to ask, please feel free to ask.
You can watch all the battles below from the video or battle links.
Quix the Devious and Headwinds Ability

Battle Link
Actually, in such a battle, having the Brighton Bloom card was a huge advantage and the opposing player had this card, but unfortunately it is not in my deck. Even though all the monsters on the opposing team had the Flying Ability, they had an incredibly difficult time hitting and damaging the Runic Skyclaw, which allowed my team to win the battle quite easily. That's why I love using Quix the Devious, Runic Skyclaw, and Headwinds Ability together against Ranged Attack Monsters.
Even though the opposing team seemed more powerful and the opposing player's strategy seemed better in this battle, my team won this battle quite easily. It's really admirable how much Runic Skyclaw can evade attacks, and it's also incredibly frustrating for opponents.
By the way, I would like to say that speed and abilities increase the chance of evading attacks, otherwise it is possible that they cannot evade depending on luck.
Ilthain and Anachron Bolte
These three battles clearly show how effective the combination of Ilthain and Anachron Bolte is against Ranged attack Monsters. I think such strategies will become more powerful, especially when I upgrade the level of my Ilthain and Anachron Bolte cards.
In fact, I see that many players prefer such strategies, especially in battles with the Going the Distance ruleset, many players use the Return Fire Ability. If the opposing team is more powerful and I feel that the opposing player will use the Return Fire Ability, I choose a different strategy. Triage Ability, Life Leech Ability, Armor and Repair Ability largely prevent the Return Fire Ability from being very effective. I wanted to show this in a battle below.
Battle Link
In this battle, thanks to the Lir Deepswimmer Summoner, all monsters in the opposing team have +2 armor and Return Fire Ability, frankly, such a strategy is a very good choice for such battles. However, the fact that I used Triage, Life Leech, and Repair Abilitirs in this battle prevented the opposing player's very good strategy from working well, and my team won this battle quite easily.
Above, I talked about the Going the Distance ruleset and my favorite strategies and combinations in battles with the Going the Distance ruleset. If there is anything you would like to add or ask, please feel free to comment. They really come in handy in these types of battles, which is why I love the Going the Distance ruleset. If there is anything you would like to add or ask, please feel free to comment.
Brief descriptions of the abilities I mentioned above;
- Headwinds Ability : Reduces the Ranged attack of all enemy Units by 1.
- Martyr Ability : When this Unit dies, adjacent Units get +1 to all stats.
- Flying Ability : Has a 25% bonus chance of evading Melee or Ranged attacks from Units who do not have the Flying ability.
- Amplify Ability : Increases Magic Reflect, Return Fire, and Thorns damage to all enemy units by 1.
- Return Fire Ability :
When hit with a Ranged attack, Units with Return Fire will return half the damage (rounded up) back to their attacker. - Triage Ability : Heals the friendly back-line Unit that has taken the most damage by a third of max health.
- Life Leech Ability : Unit's health increases each time it damages an enemy Unit's health by half the damage dealt.
- Repair Ability : Restores a third of max armor to the friendly Unit whose armor has taken the most damage.

What do you think about the battles, my favorite combinations and strategies? I would be glad if you write your thoughts in the comments.
