Splinterlands Chronicles #6: Powerful Strategy Tips for Winning Battles in Splinterlands

Hello Everyone! Hope you're all are doing great and welcome to my daily Splinterlands post!

Today, I'll be talking about some powerful strategy tips for winning battles in Splinterlands. Every battle I play teaches me something new about how important strategy really is. Many players think that having powerful cards is the only thing in the game but that's not right. In Splinterlands, a smart strategy beats powerful and expensive cards.

1. Always Check the Ruleset Carefully

Each battle has a it's own specific rulesets like No Magic, Close Range, or Earthquake. These rules can completely change your battle plan. For Example, if the ruleset is No Magic and you play magic units then you're probably going to lose the battle because your magic cards will be of no use. So, before you choose your cards, always take some time to understand the ruleset and mana cap. Your whole battle strategy is built around it. This is how top players win with weaker and less expensive cards.

Earthquake Close Range

  • Earthquake: All non-flying monsters take 2 physical damage at the end of every turn. Note: Snared monsters are considered non-flying. Since the damage given is physical, it can be reduced to 1 if the monster has the shield ability.

  • Close Range: Monsters with ranged attacks are allowed to attack in the first position.

2. Build a Well Balanced Team

Some players make mistakes that they only focus on damage and they forget about defense and other stats of the battle. In a battle, you need a tank that can take the damage, damage dealers and support units like healers.

3. Know about the Strengths of your Splinters

Each Splinter has it's own different Strengths. For Example:

  • Fire: Aggressive melee and Speed based attacks.

  • Water: Magic and Healing focus.

  • Earth: High health and sustain.

  • Death: Poison Strategies.

  • Life: Armor, Healing and Defense.

Knowledge of the Splinters is really important in a battle because if you can predict which Splinter your opponent is going for, then if you use the right Splinter cards against it, you might have an edge in the battle. For example, if you use water or life splinters against a fire team, then you probably would have an edge in the battle.

4. Positioning is the Key to Victory

In my opinion, card placement is the most important thing in a battle. If your card placement is wrong then you're going to lose that battle. You need to place your tanks in the front, your damage dealers in the middle and range attackers or healers at the back. This is the ideal setup for almost every battle in Splinterlands. If you put your damage dealers in the front, then their going to die first and your team will have no damage dealers then. So, position your cards carefully.

5. Abilities

Abilities can also change the tide of the battle. Don't just pick cards because they look powerful, pick them because of their abilities. For Example, some cards have the 'Reach' ability. Cards with the 'Reach' ability can melee attack from the second position. So, if you use both positioning and abilities smartly, you can pretty much win your battles easily.

Reach

  • Reach: Enables the monster to attack from the second position on the team.

6. Mana Management

Each battle has different Mana cap. Some battles have low mana cap and some has high mana cap. In low mana cap battles, use low mana cost cards wiht useful abilities. In high mana cap battles, use your best units with high mana costs but also don't forget to use support cards with them.

7. Learn from Losses

Every defeat in Splinterlands teaches you something. And, each defeat has it's own reason of defeat.

  • Did you position your cards correctly?

  • Did you use their abilities wisely?

  • Did you manage your mana efficiently?

  • Did you check the ruleset carefully?

  • Did you predict your opponent and chose the right splinter against your oppponent?

Once you start studying these important points, you will eventually start improving and start winning.

Conclusion

In Conclusion, Splinterlands is not only an ordinary card game. It's a game of planning and smart decision-making. Even if you don't have really powerful and expensive cards, you can still win battles using the right strategies.
