How Hive Improved My Writing Skills Without Me Realizing
Hello Everyone! Hope y'all are doing amazing.
Today, I'm gonna be talking about how Hive improved my writing skills without me realizing.
When I first joined Hive, I honestly did not expect anything big. My main goal was to write a little and earn a little, that is it. I was not about improving my writing skills. But, slowly Hive changed the way I write and the way I express my thoughts. I was not paying attention to the fact that, writing every day would change my thoughts, ideas and writing without me realizing it.
Before Hive, I only used to write when it was necessary. Like, writing to complete university assignments, preparing for exams or writing to send a message to someone. Now, after joining Hive, it pushed me into different kind of writing. Now, I can actually express my honest thoughts and write freely without any boundaries. And, fun fact is that people actually like that. People like originality and they actually choose to read. I do not write for marks anymore, I write so that people can understand and gain some insight on my thoughts. This is a huge difference.
Writing and posting daily forced me to think clearly. Sometimes there are days that I do not want to write. I do not even want to touch my laptop. But, then I remember that consistency will definitely bring change. Even if you write a little bit, it will still make a big change. This mentality forces me to write and honestly, it did made a change in me. Now, I can express much easily thanks to those days that I pushed myself when i did not wanted to. My ideas and thoughts are much more organized now.
At first, I did not get many comments. I still do not get many comments but that is okay. Even small interactions helped me and motivated me.
When someone takes time to read your post, it makes you to write better next time.
The great thing about Hive is that, it is not like an exam. You can pretty much write anything you want. There is no one that criticizes you on your writing or your grammatical mistakes. Instead those mistakes, those imperfections helps you to convey true and original messages to the world.
Writing daily and consistently is not the only way that can improve your writing. Reading also helps quite a bit. On Hive, there are all kinds of writers. Gamers, Photographers, Motivational writers, food experts and business experts, all of them has their own style. When you read that much variety, it will definitely have a huge impact on your own writing. You slowly absorb and learn different styles and combine them into something much bigger and greater. When you do that, you will eventually learn how to make a good post and it becomes a kind of a habit.
Before Hive, I only used to write simple things. But after joining Hive, I write about gaming, business, daily life, food recipes, fitness and so many different topics. I do not get scared of writing and expressing my thoughts anymore. That is all thanks to Hive that it has pushed me out of my comfort zone. It is a huge improvement.
One more thing I love about hive and I think I have mentioned this before (well if I have then this is a more enhanced version of it), it is that you do not have to be perfect to write on Hive. You do not need perfect grammar or perfect vocabulary. You just need to be yourself and that is enough. In fact the mistakes I make when I am writing has become a part of my writing style because it proofs my originality.
To be honest, if someone told me months ago that I would be writing 500+ or 600+ words, I would laugh on them because back then I could not even think about doing it. But Hive changed it. Now writing feels like something I enjoy, it kind of helps me relax and unwind after a long day.

STOPThat is exactly what happens. I have always written, and was always told that I did it well. All things English and writing are my day job. However, it was only thirty years later, when I started blogging and writing to my own script, I really learned to write and began honing my skills.
It's a discipline and if you don't use it you lose it.
