New Cactus
A few weeks ago, when I was returning from my son Matias' last chess tournament, we stopped at my friend Claudi's house, and she very kindly gave me some of her cactus "hijitos " to plant at home and add to my little garden.
As you know, these tournaments last two days, and in this case it was a weekend (Saturday and Sunday), and on Saturday, in the middle of our conversations, I told her about my cactus, and that I was about to buy others, because the ones I had were almost all of the same species, and she very kindly offered to give me some of the ones she had at home.
Of course, I was more than happy, even without knowing which species she had, but the truth is, I didn't care much, because bringing two different ones would be more than enough for me, so we agreed that at the end of the day on Sunday, I would collect the "little children " to plant at home.
And that's exactly what we did, and while we were waiting for my husband to come for us, Claudi lent me some scissors and we went to look for the cactus, and it was love at first sight.
As soon as I saw them I fell in love, because the species she had, besides being very pretty, bloom beautifully, so I carefully removed with the scissors the "twigs " that you see in the pictures, through @liketu, and I kept them to plant them at home.
As soon as I arrived I got down to work and looked for what I needed to plant them: pots and containers, as well as preparing the soil I would use, and with the help of my mini rake I began to plant each one of the little pieces of cactus I brought with me. And depending on the containers I used, the method of planting was different.
For example, in the containers that do not have holes to drain the water, what I did was to place a few stones at the bottom so that the water would fall into them, and the soil would not be always wet, but could somehow drain.
After the pebbles, I added the soil, planted the cactus, and placed some decorative pebbles, to make them look much prettier.
The rest of the cactus I planted them in two different containers that have how to drain the water, so I did it the traditional way; soil, the plant and some pebbles, and with that the new cactus were ready.
As of today, they are already two weeks old and they all look great. Some of them I will have to change the container later because they tend to grow a little, but for that there is still some time to go, and where they are I thought it was a good place to start.
I hope that finally they all make it, and that very soon I will be able to see some little flowers that I will certainly share with you.
Hace unas semanas, cuando regresaba del último torneo de ajedrez de mi hijo Matías, hicimos una parada en casa de mi amiga Claudi, y ella muy amablemente me regaló unos "hijitos" de sus cactus para sembrarlos en casa y sumarlo a mi pequeño jardín.
Como saben, estos torneos duran dos días, y en este caso fue un fin de semana (sábado y domingo), y el día sábado, en medio de nuestras conversaciones, le contaba sobre mis cactus, y que estaba por comprar otros, pues los que tenía eran casi todos de una misma especie, y ella muy amable se ofreció a darme algunos de los que tenía en casa.
Por supuesto, yo me puse más que feliz, aun sin saber cuáles especies tenía ella, pero la verdad, no me importaba mucho, porque con traer dos diferentes ya sería más que suficiente para mí, así que quedamos de acuerdo que al finalizar la jornada del domingo, yo recolectaría los "hijitos" para sembrar en casa.
Y eso justamente hicimos, y mientras esperábamos que mi esposo fuese por nosotros, Claudi me prestó unas tijeras y nos fuimos a buscar los cactus, y aquello fue, amor a primera vista.
Es que apenas los vi quedé enamorada, porque las especies que ella tenía, además de ser muy lindas, florecen bellísimo, así que con mucho cuidado les quité con la tijera las "ramitas" que ven en las fotos, a través de @liketu, y las guardé para sembrarlas en casa.
En cuanto llegué puse manos a la obra y busqué lo necesario para sembrarlas: materitos y envases, además de preparar la tierra que usaría, y con ayuda de mi mini rastrillo comencé a sembrar cada uno de los trocitos de cactus que traje. Y dependiendo de los recipientes que usé el método para sembrarlos fue diferente.
Por ejemplo, en los envases que no tienen agujeros para drenar el agua, lo que hice fue colocar unas cuantas piedras al fondo para que el agua cayese hasta ellas, y no quedara la tierra siempre húmeda, sino que de alguna forma pudiese escurrir.
Luego de las piedritas, agregué la tierra, sembré el cactus, y coloqué algunas piedritas decorativas, para que se vieran mucho más lindas.
El resto de los cactus los sembré en dos recipientes diferentes que tienen cómo drenar el agua, así que lo hice de la manera tradicional; tierra, la planta y algunas piedritas, y con eso ya estaban listos los nuevos cactus.
Al día de hoy, ya tienen dos semanas y todos se ven muy bien. A algunos los tendré que cambiar de recipiente más adelante porque suelen crecer un poco, pero para eso aún falta tiempo, y donde están me pareció un buen lugar para comenzar.
Espero que finalmente todos logren salir adelante, y que muy pronto pueda ver algunas florecitas que sin duda compartiré con ustedes.

Rosita esos cactus estan bien lindos y son tan cuchis cuando están pequeñitos, que bueno que pudiste incluir nuevas especies a tu jardin. A mi me hace falta tambien, tengo muchos pero de los mismos y quisiera otros para variar pero ya los conseguiré luego. Ya quiero ver cuando los tuyos tengan flores 😍

Estos porque me los regalaron, pero aquí cuestan 3$, no es tanto pero pues ni eso puedo darme el lujo de gastar por ahora. Pero espero que pronto pueda aunque sea de uno a uno.

Oye la verdad no se, nosotros la plantamos directamente en el suelo y el cactus empezó a crecer como loco, de vez en cuando florece pero ni idea cuanto tardó en hacerlo, se llama ojo de dragón y su flor es hermosa

Amiga que cuchis se ven, yo creo que si yo empiezo a tener plantas, me compraría un cactus, primero porque no se les coloca agua todos los días y segundo dijeron que ellos recogen las ondas de los electrodomésticos, aunque tengo que investigar jaja.
