Bitcoin Whale Wallets

Today I was reading twitter and I found an interesting chart from Jason Bassett, his account @fitcoiner published this:

In this chart we can see the evolution of the Bitcoin whale wallets is increasing over time. However I found something weird, in their fist comment he says the following:

📊 The data tells the story:
• 🗓️ Jan 2023: 1,530 wallets
• 🗓️ Oct 2024: 1,678
• 🗓️ Apr 2025: 1,975

That’s a +29% jump in large holders - each with 1,000+ BTC
The smart money is moving

And...

All the numbers in the tweet doesn't match the numbers of the chart. So I decided to look at 2 different places to see what are the actual numbers and their evolution. I found 2 websites that can help us find real data. The first one is from Bitcoin Magazine Pro, the Bitcoin magazine twitter account is worth a follow. Here the website I used for the next chart: https://www.bitcoinmagazinepro.com/charts/addresses-greater-than-1000-btc/

Bitcoin super whales are not accumulating as the other chart suggested. In fact, we are in a consolidating period since 2020. The average number of Bitcoin whale wallets since the year 2020 is 2,000 wallets.
There is no need for this number to go up, price can move upwards without big whales accumulating.

Another interesting point is that whales usually accumulate when the prices are low and near bottoms. It's not the case.

There is another interesting website with information about the Bitcoin wallets. It's Bitinfocharts, and it's most interesting data is here: https://bitinfocharts.com/top-100-richest-bitcoin-addresses.html

As you can see on the table, there are more than 2,000 Bitcoin wallets with over 1,000 Bitcoin. This information is accurate according to the first website from Bitcoin Magazine Pro. So I assume, it's trustworthy.

There is cool information about the Bitcoin wallet distribution, you can find what % are you in if you are a Bitcoin hodler.
