Guild Brawls With Pizza 2 - A Death Vs Earth Brawl

Time flies! Just completed the 157th brawl with my awesome guild, which is none other than Pizza 2 The Deep Dish!

  • Fun In The Discord Chats

Really appreciated the interaction in the Discord chats within the Pizza guilds. During the preparation phase, there's a lot of information sharing and discussion on who to fill each fray. During the brawls, there were reminders to members to complete their brawl battles. And after the brawls, there were celebratory messages and some members (including me) would write about our experience in the brawls. Aside from brawls, I thought the donations were also very well organised and tabulated, with lucky draws to incentivise donors as well.

  • Moving Back To Bronze Fray

For this brawl, I made the decision to move back to a Bronze level fray, which is where my cards are at. It proved to a good decision but I was back to winning form!

Had 6 battles this time and it was not an easy round, especially when they have recently introduced 3 rulesets for each battle. Moreover, I have rented out most of my cards because I was playing lesser these days.

  • We Got 5th!!

So for the final result, we were 5th out of 9 guilds and got 538 Merits and around 14 SPS! A whole bag of SPS! Decent finish but was let down my participation as well. Sometimes I wonder how many people are playing Splinterlands these days.

Individually, I had 6 fights this time and I won 5 of them this time! Finished 3rd within the guild. Due to change in format, wins are actually awarded to the players present in the fray if guilds decided to skip the fray. For this round, there were 2 additional wins for me.

Let's jump into the battles!

Battle 1 - WIN

Gladius Card Used: Kotriphus Bayne

A perfect 6-0 win! Lots of decent performance from all cards as all of them could attack from the position. Drybone Raider was the star performer for dealing 6 damage per turn and this was enough to clear the opposing lineup swiftly.

Battle 2 - LOSE

Gladius Card Used: Kotriphus Bayne

Once again, it's another Quora Towershead on the opposing lineup and I just had no answers for this. Been "whining" about my lack of Quora Towershead even after 157 brawls. Oh well.

Battle 3 - WIN

Gladius Card Used: Kotriphus Bayne

It's interesting that the rulesets are pretty similar in nature.. And I am using Astral Entity for 3rd time out of 3 brawl battles, with Kotriphus Bayne also the 3rd time this brawl, and coincidentally, all my 3 opponents have used Obsidian.

Astral Entity lineups typically don't fare well against Obsidian or Magic lineups but in this case Kotriphus Bayne got enough Bloodlust by luck and managed to turn the battle around. Gladius cards are definitely important for Rebirth battles.

Battle 4 - WIN

Gladius Card Used: Witch Of Warwick

4th brawl battle, and 4th time I am facing Obsidian, and it's the 4th time I am fielding a Death lineup. Lol!

2nd time faced with another Quora Towershead, I didn't fancy my chances. Once again, I struggled on the onset and my opponent just kept healing. It was until Revealer started to stun the cards one by one and they either couldn't heal or deal damage and I started to work my way into the battle. And after I took down a stunned Quora Towershead, it became easier and I came from behind once again to snatch this win. And of course, first MVP for Revealer for the awesome stunning ability!

Battle 5 - WIN

Gladius Card Used: None

Is everyone using Earth because of Quora Towershead? 5th brawl battle:

  • Death vs Earth - 5th time
  • I am using Death - 5th time
  • Quora Towereshead used by my opponent - 3rd time
  • Astral Entity used by me - 4th time.

It takes a miracle to win Quora Towershead and this time round, it was really a tough battle and Drybone Raider was dealing 6 damage per round against a self healing Quora Towershead. It was really huff and puff and eventually we succeeded! 2 out of 3 wins against Quora Towershead in this brawl! That's an amazing statistic.

Battle 6 - WIN

Gladius Card Used: Larissa Kerato and Flagulon Reine

Moving on to the final battle! We got 6-0 win over here, no surprise when you are using 2 Legendary Gladius cards! Hehe! Larissa Kerato was the one that got the Bloodlusts going and the Double Strike just was too powerful for my opponent to handle. Easy win for this one.

So that sums up my 6 battles for this brawl! 83% win rate this time round! Pretty decent in my view!

The Merits are coming in fast and I have enough Merits for my 64th Gladius case! Nothing to see here, just the minimum set of the cards. Oh well.
