My family; My biggest strength

Life isn't a bed of roses and there are times when things don't go the way we want. Everyone wants a soft life but that doesn't come easy. One has to work towards achieving success; in the process of this, the challenges of life would hit badly, and one would feel like giving up. But, there is always one thing or the other or a person that keeps one going amidst all this life turbulence. It is different for individuals; we all have different forms of motivation, that is, things or persons that give us a heads-up in trying times.

For me, it is my family, my nuclear family. I had faced challenges in life that drew me to the peak of giving up on myself, but my family was there for me, both my parents and my siblings. These are people we fight almost every day because of differences in choices, but yet their love does not diminish. As the first child of the family, I have quite a lot of responsibilities, and being a lady makes it a bit worse because they say ladies have a heart of gold, unlike men. Whenever my siblings needed something, they couldn't get it from my parents, I was their next option, and with several pleas and cajoling, I didn't have a choice but to get it for them. It is a beautiful experience; it makes me happy that I have siblings who love me, and I love them too. I love the relationship we shared. Even our fights are beautiful because there is always a reconciliation after every fight which strengthens our bond.

There was a time in my life when I needed support both physically and emotionally. This was when I was having a little challenge in my academics. It got to a point where I told my parents that I no longer wanted to go to school; instead, I would go learn a trade. That was when I thought my mates were far gone ahead of me. Giving so much priority to what people say about me instead of staying focused to achieve my set goals. My parents were my source of inspiration, even when I had given up on myself, they never gave up on me. My siblings were always saying to me that I was their hero and it was just a phase that would pass. This was a time when I desperately needed help and a shoulder to lean on before depression set in, and fortunately, my family was my backbone. I didn't have to look too far for help; the help I needed was right there beside me, and I am still grateful for the gift of the family today.

My parents and siblings are my biggest motivation, looking at them always prompts me to work hard because I never want them to suffer. As for my parents, they've labored to raise me and provide me with every good thing in life while my siblings had and still gave me the support I needed as their elder sister. I never wanted to see anyone of them in pain and that is my biggest source of motivation not to give up even at my lowest. Family plays a crucial role in shaping one's character, values, and identity, which I cannot deny. My family has been a great source of help to me. My family provided me with the emotional security and support that I needed. The bonds formed within a family often become the strongest and most enduring connections in a person's life.

Family also serves as the first place of learning. Early in life, my parents taught me how to take responsibility. I thought they were being too strict then, but today, I'm grateful for their teachings. The ability to rely on family during trying times builds resilience and strengthens the bond among members and this is what I enjoy in my family. My family is not perfect; we have times of misunderstanding, but the essence of family lies in the willingness to forgive, support, and grow together. All these are achievable through healthy communication, mutual respect, and shared values, which are keys to maintaining strong family ties. My family is my biggest strength, which I cherish with all of my heart; with them by my side, I'm not giving up ever.

There's nothing quite as beautiful as family. You may not always agree but they will always be there for you. Nicely written, @rare-gem
