Indeed not all that glitter is gold, this phrase is self explanatory and also explains a lot of situations happening in the world today, we see things and envy them thinking it is pure gold but rather, they are just some sort of mud painted with colours of gold to deceive sights. Without much introduction, let me tell you a real life story that relates to this famous quote.
It all started in my first year in the institution, normally as a fresh or new student, you try to get along with your school system in everyway possible to get aquatinted and make new friends. Back then i only knew most of my colleagues facially but not their names. So i could easily tell facially if a person is my colleague or not.
As new students, we always tend to struggle and work very hard to attend classes and keep up to most school activities, you needed to see the way we get stock in a tiny lecture hall with thousands of new students because we were huge in number. But within all of these struggles, we do sight some of our colleagues who never cared about attending classes or even involving in some school activities. They were some colleagues we see that just drive in to school with some flashy cars just to relax under a tree with their peer clicks doing absolutely nothing while the rest of us are sweating heavily in the lecture hall.
But guess what, these guys that never attended classes never fails their results, so what the hell was actually going on?. At the end of the semesters you will see their results posted on the notice board with a minimum of "C" and "B" on their results while we that even attended classes were struggling and scaring through with "D" or "C".
Obviously without doubt these guys had money to sort out every course in the university and i always assumed they all came from a rich and wealthy home merely looking at they way they show off in and outside school.
During my second year in school, one evening i was walking down to school in preparation for an evening lecture then on my way to school o saw government officials and some police officers that we call state anti rubbery squad(SAS) parading themselves at a spot with some group of students sited on the floor with their clothes pulled off and some injuries over them. When i walked closer, i saw these colleagues that i always assumed were actually rich people from wealthy homes and i was shocked, i asked the people who were close to the scene what happened and they said, those were students they caught doing some internet frauds we popularly call "Yahoo boys/girls" and that some were caught trying to sell a car that doesn't belong to them.
I was soaked in shock but at the same time wasn't so surprised after all because the world has really turned into something else with the current generation of youths. I really do pity for women especially because they get moved by guys who look flashy without knowing how they make their money or the source of income for some of these guys.
Unfortunately this colleagues of mine were never heard of again since that day and that was the last time we ever seen their faces in school. I really don't know where they are today or what they are doing currently because i wasn't so acquainted to them, don't know their real names nor even have any form of contacts with them but i just hope and pray that they are in a better place today and doing something legit to utilize and sustain themselves. Indeed, not all that glitter is assured to be gold.
We never can tell what a lot of people are doing in secret and that's why we should not pray to be like anyone or try to copy them.
All that glitters is truly not gold...
Yes that is absolutely correct, we shouldn't give people an easy access to our lives until we've known so much about them already
I really can't imagine such a story in my town :o
Interesting to read, tyvm for sharing!
Yeah?, Thank you so much for stopping by too mate. I appreciate ❤️
Thats a nice story! I t could be a book hehehe good job!
Lol. A book indeed. Thank you so much gwajnberg . I appreciate your comment
Indeed all that glitters is is not good what we see might not even be real
Even there are lots of fake human everywhere shining while some people will want to be like them without knowing what they are into to get money.
You're right dara, it is important to always know the people around us before mingling with them because we do not know what lies beneath. Thanks for stopping by
As a student believe me I have experience these many times especially during exams we see different faces that we never saw during lecture hours. They don't spend much hours in the exam halls, their paper is nearly blank, I guess they just came to exam hall for appearance and attendance only, as soon as the result is out, they are at the top of the list as students with highest GPA, it is disheartening but eventually we accepted the hard truth. Those that are privileged and well connected or with the means will always have their way around things.
The world is upside down these days, we now witness some parent encourage their children to embark on fraudulent activities such as yahoo. Notorious internet fraudsters.
But karma awaits us all, nothing is without consequences.
Haha so true brother.
Damn you just highlighted the whole school dilemma on your comment and i don't even know where to start from because you're perfectly correct.
These people just have their personal route to making their own success grades in school without stress.
Definitely, karma is always there awaiting everyone, if you paid the price for what you have now or not. Thank you so much for this wonderful post of a comment jobber.
It is what happens everywhere. They are found in my schools too. These set of people are doing some illegal works to bring in money and would work their way in with lecturers while, we, being the overly serious type would be struggling with good grades. There are some who didn't graduate with us and I wonder how come they couldn't use their money to graduate. I guess all days are for the thief but one day is for the owner. They are always caught in the end.
Lol . You're right princess, you see one thing I'm after is always my efforts because, i can't be holding a certificate that i didn't work hard for or cut corners to get. The competency won't be there at all and more over, the guilt will always fish me out.
I prefer graduating with an average or even low grade result that shows my actual qualifications than a perfect result that i can't defend in the future.
Thanks for the wonderful comment princess 😊💗
Exactly. Having a certificate you will be proud of and be able to defend is worth more than achieving such grade with cutting corners. It doesn't end well. #dreemport
It is scary how we can not judge someone by their looks cause we could be wrong. #dreemerforlife
So true, looks are very deceiving, thank you dreemer
One thing I have learned is to never trust riches. There are different types of riches and sometimes, we could be roped into the wrong kind. This is a valuable lesson if you ask me.

Indeed, all that glitter isn't gold. You don't know the story behind many people's source of income and some girls fall deeply for this. I am glad they were caught.
Hello lovely Dreemer, it's Monday! And I have got super energy through waltzing in from #dreemport. For I am an incredibly made #dreemer. An awesomely made #dreemerforlife. Have a good start to the new week.
Indeed not all that glitters is gold.
It's so sad that yahoo boys are now everywhere. Even teenagers are now joining them all for this ill-gotten money.
Students are no longer eager to learn as their head is filled with how to make money and the funny thing is how some of their parents are in support of what they do.
I hope things gets better o. Thanks for sharing.

A lot of individuals want to live to a standard that they are not upto. The thing with that kind of success is, it only lasts for a while. I feel bad for them, imagine how they even allowed pride to engulf them so much that they don't even attend lectures but sort out.. why won't some people say the youths are lazy?
I pray the learn the lessons Sha.
#dreemerforlife #dreemport
They have certainly learnt the lesson now Obviously. Just like someone would say, sometimes it's not really the fault of these people to involve into crime but rather, economic backlash. Thanks dreemer
You are welcome broh
