Exploring theHunter: COTW's New Askiy Ridge Reserve

Hello and welcome back to my blog!

When I logged into theHunter: Call of the Wild, I was notified of new DLC content added to the game. It included a weapon pack DLC, which I don't usually buy, and a new reserve. I'm always excited about new DLC reserves, so I went to a multiplayer session to see if someone was hosting this new map. Many were hosting it, and you can join those sessions even if you don't own the DLC.

This reserve is called Askiy Ridge Hunting Preserve, based on the landscapes of Alberta, Canada. This is the second map entirely filled with snowy landscapes. For me, someone who loves snow, this was such a nice surprise. The reserve logo has a Beaver on it, so I'm guessing we should be able to hunt them here.

I am here to show you some visuals of this stunning reserve.

This game truly deserved more snow-filled reserves with unique wildlife to hunt. While Medved-Taiga looks beautiful, it can feel a bit empty at times. That's not the case with this new one. I read that there are a total of 19 species here to hunt, with 8 of them unique and not found on any other map.

There are plenty of water bodies here, which will likely be hotspots for animal activity. The first species I saw here was familiar, the whitetail deer, which is found in several other reserves.

I also saw what looked like a female moose, but they were actually a new species: the Manitoban Elk. I'd never heard that name before.

I also found Mountain Goats here, which are also in Silver Ridge Peaks.

While I'm talking about these, it's a good time to discuss the landscape. There are a lot of rocky mountains in this reserve. I even tried to climb one, but failed and fell to my death.

There are plenty of water bodies. I already mentioned the large lakes, and there also seem to be narrow rivers or streams. I love taking pictures of these lakes with huge mountains in the background; it looks very majestic.

I even hunted a Black Bear close to this lake. This game knows how to create beautiful landscapes. One of the major reasons I keep coming back to this game is its continued approach of adding new reserves and making everything look so lifelike.

There are some interesting forests too. I don't like to hunt there because of the low visibility. I saw a gray wolf in this reserve as well. If they gang up on you, they can kill you pretty easily.

Creating landscapes that look real from a distance is one thing, but making these forests feel just as real when you walk through them is another. Very impressive.

In some areas, it seems like the ground texture is stretched, but it's not a deal-breaker.

The next shot you see, I took a similar-looking shot in real life, except there was no snow on the ground.

Let me know your thoughts about this new reserve. I'm happy to see another snowy map added to the game. I might not be able to buy this DLC right now, but whenever I want to play it, I can join a multiplayer session. I won't be able to play the story campaign or set up permanent camps, but that's fine. I'll wait for the prices to go down or for a discount before I buy this gorgeous-looking map.

Which part of the reserve intrigues you the most? I personally love the lakes and mountains. I'll soon be climbing on one of those.

Thanks for reading.

Until next shot...

I remember when this game came out years ago that an activist group complained and wanted to change the weapons for cameras, I'm surprised how complete the game is and how even today they continue to update it, giving love and generating a great community. I really enjoy a lot when you share your adventures in The Hunter.

Wow, what beautiful screenshots! It's amazing to see the realism of this game, and you can find all kinds of wild animals in it. Of course, the game itself consists of hunting all kinds of wild animals. It seems very relaxing.

Those landscapes from above are incredible, bro. You always surprise us with each of your screenshots of this video game, and the animals you've been hunting are beautiful. It's a shame you have to hunt them. My favorite screenshot was the one with a beautiful view of the mountains. That looks amazing. Thanks for sharing.
