Ikoyi, The Old Money City

Hello my fellow Hiveans, it is a good and a new of of 2026. Thisbis my entry to this week's #wednesdaywalk by @tattoodjay. My very #Wednesday walk for this week is an area in Lagos state known as Ikoyi. I call it the old money of Lagos. This is because most residentials are above fifty years of age and are wealthy, compared to Lekki axis of below forty (40) years of age and are rich. The streets are calm and the area is less populated unlike her neighbour Victoria Island.

One beautiful thing about this area is that it is rare to see houses that are bungalow. The least of the buildings are a storey building. A lot of the buildings are three (3), upto nine (9) storey buildings are the most common. This area has revealed that while riches talks wealth is always silent because empty barrels makes more of rhe noise. I will tell you for free that this axis is where the wealthiest people of Nigeria live. The likes of Dangote, Mike Adenuga, Otedola, Adeleke, Bola Ahmed Tinubu (current Nigeria President) among others have at least one building in this place.

I have always said that when I make my first million in dollars, I will get a property here. The only constraints is that the water is not healthy nor clean, therefore buying of water is needed every point in time. Not only this axis but the whole of the Island has this issue. It is impossible to get water that is 78% clean without purification unlike the mainland
