I hope Chase's operation went well.
But I was wondering, what is the reason for neutering the dog, I have never understood that practice and I don't know what the need is to do it.

Thank you for the update. The reason to neuter a pet is so that they are not trying to make love to every other female dog they encounter. That way they can be more social and go to dog parks and such :) !BBH
