Telegram and FinTech Scam
A friend of mine just told me how he got scammed of 4 million naira plus by someone he met on telegram and claims to be a pounds exchange vendor. First of all, I blame my friend for falling for this particular scam, i know nobody is perfect or knows it all but there are some dump scams you should not fall victim to even when you are drunk. My friend who recently got admission to a university in the United Kingdom (UK) was looking for how he would convert the Naira he had into Pounds before he will travel out either last year or the first week of next year and the month of January.
Now, I think it should be public knowledge that telegram is not a good place to exchange your Naira for pounds because the person can scam you and the worst part is that you do not even know this person physically, so he or she can scam you without getting cut especially if the person gives you a Fintech Bank to pay your money into. I do not know if my friend knows that on telegram or discord groups those people who rush to send you a private direct message to anyone who joins a group new or asks for an assistant is a scammer. Because he knew or had asked me, he would not have fallen for this present scam.
Not only did the person message him first the person was offering him a deal that was too good to be true and it was actually a scam because he had paid the money now the scammer whoever he or she is has blocked him. In most groups and from public knowledge it is always pinned in the group that no admin of that said group will send you a DM first. It is so sad that he is learning this the hard as he has lost his money to this scammer, anyways we are trying our possible best to see if the money can be revised to him.

Even catching the scammer will be hard on Telegram as it is an open social media platform. Sad that he had to learn this lesson the hard way with the cost being this sum of money.
I'm so pained he had to learn that way.
