This is my post for #freewriters 2947 prompt the other waiter hosted by @mariannewest

The wind laid off enough for us to fish today, but it will pick back up tomorrow, so we will not fish. We will be able to fish Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, but it will blow again for Monday.

This morning, we stopped on Cat Island, but I did not see anything, and we caught nothing. I texted my husband, and he said he skipped fish at Long Point. So to Long Point we went.

By the time we got there, my husband was gone. A pompano skipped out in front of me, then another one skipped, and one skipped beside the boat. We anchored, and it was not long, and we had one. My husband texted me and asked if we had seen anything. I told him. By the time he got there, we had caught another one.

We sat there longer than I wanted, we did not have another bite. We moved and caught nothing, but the next anchoring, we caught one. That is how it went all day, we would either catch nothing or catch one within the first ten minutes.

My sister caught her biggest pompano yet. It is 4 or 4 and a half pounds. She was shocked when I told her that it was almost a thirty dollar fish. Since we can not fish tomorrow, we put plenty of ice on our fish and will weigh them tomorrow, that is why I do not know the exact weight of her fish.

I was telling her that the last time I was in a fish market, they were getting 24 dollars a pound for pompano. That was 5 years ago, I am sure the price has gone up since then. If I were the one giving the price of this fish to a customer, I would have to get the other waiter to help them because I would be ashamed to say, this is a 96 dollar fish, that is at 24 dollars a pound.

Our last anchoring was offshore of Long Point flatt. We caught 2 there, and another commercial boat went south of us and they showered around his boat. It was getting late, 3 o'clock, I said, lets go, as we were reeling rods in, a pompano skipped off the bow. I told my sister we were still leaving.

When I started my motor and headed west, I saw one skip from the other boat, the guy in it raised both arms in the air, as if to say, "What Gives", they will not bite.

Yes we did, but my husband beat us by 3 pounds. We had 13 pounds and he had 16. My sister's pompano weighed 4.1 pounds, my husband had a big one at only 4 pounds, hers beat his by 1 ounce. !LOL
