5 minute freewrite 2969 prompt what an appearance!

This is my post for #freewriters 2969 prompt what an appearance! hosted by @mariannewest
Yesterday, my plan was only to bunch the desert roses in a cluster, but something kept nagging me to do more. I put cardboard around them, but still had that gut feeling to do more. I found a piece of weedmatt and covered one bunch, but did not have enough for the other. I still did not like it. I started gathering palm fronds and stacking them on top and around them.
I wanted to get under the trailer and pull out an old tote full of sheets that I saved for covering plants, but by now my hand and back were hurting, and I was still not satisfied, but did not do it.
I did not understand why I felt I had to do all that I was doing. The weatherman said we were to be in the low 40s so I was not worried about frost, I was just trying to keep them warm.
This morning, I understood why my gut kept telling me to do more. 2026 came in, and I would say what an appearance! Our low 40s turned to low 30s, we had frost.
I am afraid the cold weather will send the fish south, the water temperature dropped from 69 to 61. If they are still here, they will not feed when the water temp drops below 65. They were hard enough to get to bite at 69 degrees.
Luckily, my sister has a side job she is doing today and tomorrow, so she can still make a little money.
I have not told her yet, but I have a plan to catch ladyfish if the pompano won't bite. I haven't told her because she does not like trolling for fish.
