5 minute freewrite 2959 prompt the last date

This is my post for #freewriters 2959 prompt the last date hosted by @mariannewest
The last couple of days that we fished, my motor had a miss to it. I told my sister I hoped the patch I put under the water jacket 4 years ago was not leaking saltwater onto the sparkplugs. That is exactly what happened. My husband would not loosen the bolts, he said they break on him, so I loosened them, and he took them out.

The white is salt from water dripping out of the hole. It is a good thing Sunday was the last date we could fish until after Christmas.

I spent most of the day scraping the old gasket off and trying to get the hole clean enough to patch.

I filled the hole with JB Weld and will let it sit overnight. Tomorrow I will put another layer of JB Weld over it. My husband tried to order a new gasket online, and he said we could not get it until Dec 31. The place we got our parts from closed, but I wondered if a Marine store would have one. I called them, and they said they had it.
Tomorrow I have to clean the cover, and after the JB Weld dries for 24 hours, I can put it back together.

Wow, I love your DIY (Do It Yourself) approach to some of these things. Goodluck with the repairs and also fishing before Christmas
Thank you, it is cheaper if you can fix things yourself.
We will not be fishing until after Christmas.
Merry Christmas, @alovely088
