This is my post for #freewriters 2937 prompt impound the ship! hosted by @mariannewest

After getting a hole in the floor of my boat, my husband wants me to put a floorboard in it. I did not want one in it because it would add more weight and make the well shallower, so that when I unhook a fish, it can flop out of the boat. But after me walking on it today, I decided he is right, it still gives with my weight, and my sister is bigger than I am. I do not know where I will keep my box of tackle, it barely fits in its spot now.

The last day we fished, one of the front rod holders broke. We have to use thin walled PVC because the poles would not fit in thick walled. My husband had cleaned his shed and was throwing away an odd size piece of PVC. It is thicker than thick walled PVC, and long enough to make two rod holders. I wanted to use it, but the rod was very sloppy when I put it in it. So I slid the broken rod holder inside it and screwed it to the front bulkhead. I do not think they will break. I also put a rope through the bulkhead and looped it around the PVC. That made it more secure.

I have to have them at an angle because the bowcap will not close with them straight, and I was not sure how to mark the hole that is in the boat to the pipe, so I could drill it. After thinking about it, I stuck a screw through the hole and put the rod holder at the angle it needed to be, and spun it to mark where to drill. It came out a perfect fit.

A friend is fishing his son's boat, and offered me his Carolina Skiff to fish. It would be so much nicer than my little boat, but I do not want to be responsible for his motor, it is a new four stroke. Even though every time my sister walks up to my husband's boat and says look at all of the room he has, I feel for her, but we manage in my boat.

My husband's boat is also a Carolina Skiff. I am not ready to impound the ship!/boat. Even if my friend had an old engine on his boat, I would not want to use it. One thing with the four stroke engines is, I can not lift them. That is why I still have a two stroke, the fours are three times as big and maybe four times as heavy for the same horsepower as a two stroke.

You can see the difference in the room from his boat to mine, and two people are fishing in my boat. Mine is only four feet wide, I am not sure how wide his is. My sister has to sit on the back cooler when we are moving because there is too much weight in the bow. When we stop to fish, I have her in the back so she can reach four rods. I sit on the bow with two rods. I can reel in a catfish or other small fish, but when I get a pompano on one of them, she has to get to the bow, and I have to go to the stern. We have a small opening on the right side of the photo that we can step through, of course, one at a time.
photos are mine

Now THAT is what I call a great explanation of what it takes to outfit a fishing boat ... and YEAH, don't impound a heavier engine than you can lift. That's asking for trouble, and it's not like the fish have you in car -- er, boat -- chases!

Thank you. I am not going to use his boat. I do not know what I will do when my motor quits working. We can no longer buy 2 stroke boat motors.
