This is my post for #freewriters 2898 prompt clinic for the poor hosted by @mariannewest

We have a Health Dept and two other clinics, all three are a clinic for the poor and middle class. The last two charges by a sliding scale of your income. I have been to all of them, but quit going to the Health Dept when a young woman tried 9 times to draw blood from me. She finally left and came back with another woman who stuck me once and got the blood she needed. That was my only bad experience with them. I now only go to the clinic near my house.

The doctor I see always sends me to other doctors. I am beginning to think, is she a doctor? I know she is, but she has never treated me for anything, and when I was told to get permission to stop the blood thinners to have surgery, she would not ok it. The doctor who put me on them was no longer in this area, and she was the one who sent me to him. The cardiologist she sent me to gave the ok to stop taking them.

Some clinics have very good doctors, they are the ones who volunteer their time, but the doctors who have a full time job at the clinic seem to lack in actually doctoring.

The dentist I saw at the clinic was as old as the hills, but he was the most kind, gentlest, and professional dentist I have ever had. He told me he retired, but volunteers a couple of days a week. That was 30 years ago, he has had to have passed on by now. It would be nice if all clinic doctors could take a page from his book on how to care for people.
