Leonard Cohen has a song that goes, Everything has a crack, that is how the light gets in.

This is how we should look at life because there is always an obstacle to living, and things do not always go the way we want them to go. It is how you look at it and handle the situations that matter.

I try to handle life's blows as best I can, but sometimes I fail and look back and wonder why I did it that way or reacted the way I did. The one thing I can say is I have always learned from my mistakes, the big ones and the small ones.

I do not remember all of the things I did right in my fishing career, but I could tell you every mistake I made. It is weird how that works.

There was the time I set jacks close to the ICW channel, the tide was running hard, and my net went into the channel. I had a huge mess. I circled the jacks, and the tide put the net together where I had to cut it because the rings went over the top of each other several times. My husband was not happy with me, even though I got it all back. I had to do a lot of mending to fix it. I never set that close to the channel again.

In fishing, things were always changing, and we had to change with them. Years ago, I put some of our gear we used fishing on a fat lighter tree. At the top is a crab trap buoy, the red ball is what we tied to the end of our net when fishing in the daytime. The next items down are what we tied to our net at night, they had an insert that lit up and blinked. You can not see it in this pic, but below them is a pigfish trap, and a piece of longline with one of the clips that held the leader and hook to the rope.
