5 minute freewrite 2840 prompt never retire

This is my post for #freewriters 2840 prompt never retire hosted by @mariannewest

This morning, as we were going to the beach to look for sand fleas, and we were near US1, my husband said we were going to start at Melbourne Beach and work our way back. Melbourne has put in a kiosk where you pay to park. And you have to have an app for it on your phone. A few weeks ago, when we were talking about getting fleas, I told him that a couple of years ago, I put that app on my phone. But I did not tell him, I uninstalled it because we never used it. He was already in the turning lane and said, "Why didn't you tell me you uninstalled it, I looked at him and said Why did you wait until now to tell me we were going to Melbourne. I told him I could use data and reinstall it, but he was already pissed and making a u-turn.

I hope he will never retire, he has been home for most of the summer. He might fish a couple of days a week, and lately, he has had weeks when he does not go fishing. This would not be bad if he had a hobby he could do at home, him sitting here is driving him and me crazy.

He turned the truck around, and we went to A1A and headed north, stopping first just south of the inlet. I walked to the beach and saw a lot of fleas. I made one scoop in them, and most fell through my rake. My husband's rake has a bigger mesh, and he would not catch any. I told him this, and we went on to the north.

The whitewater you see offshore in the above picture is called Monster Hole. Before they extended the north jetty, it was a famous surfing contest spot. In the 1960s and early 70s, people came from all over the world to surf here.

When we get to a new beach, we take turns on who walks down to the beach to look for the fleas. I have noticed this in the past, but have never said anything, and still didn't say anything.

This is how it gets decided who goes down to the beach, if it is a long walk, I go. All short walks, he will go look. Today we stopped south of the inlet, a long walk, I went. Stopped at Whiteys, a short walk, he went. Next to Bonsteel, the longest one today, I went. I forgot to take a pic of the other half of the walkway. His turn, he skips the next beach, it is a long walk. The next one to the north is a short walk, he went. There were no fleas at any of these other beaches.

Don't pay me no mind, I am just aggravated today.

Do you need the fleas to use as the baits to catch fishes?

Yes, after catching them, we blanch, dry, and freeze in zip-lock bags. We will take two bags a day to fish with.

Super wow how you have lots of beaches there. I hope by now you are feeling better. Also, I hope you'll find the fleas you're looking for, esp. if you need it for fishing. Do have a wonderful week ahead!

I live on the coast, so our beach runs the length of the state and has many public access points to get down to the beach.
