This is my post for #freewriters 2825 prompt greet the VIP hosted by @mariannewest

Summer is always a pleasure when it comes to growing pineapples. I had 16 with fruit this year. This year, they were not as big or as sweet as they have been in the past. I thought it was just mine doing this, but now I have read others complaining about their pineapples being small. Maybe it was the drought we had, or maybe it is because it has been so hot, I am not sure, but I would think it was one of the two.

Maybe a winter pineapple will be better. greet the VIP, I noticed this one on July 19th.

This is what it now looks like. I took this photo last Friday. I am thinking it might be ripe in December or January.

The last winter pineapple I had weighed close to 9 pounds. I do not know how big it would have been. It broke from the plant before it fully ripened by a thunderstorm. It is also the only one I have grown with multiple crowns.

🍍 what is amazing is that you only get 1 pineapple per plant when you grow.

Yes, but the mother plant will produce pups that will give you fruit next year.

Climate change usually affects the way our crops grow. If it is too hot plants are affected, if it is too cold, same result.

I agree, I now have them where they get more shade but still enough sun.

Wow amazing how you grow pineapples in your garden. 😍 Totally enjoy reading about your garden and the many plants you grow. Wish I have a bigger and private garden too. Have a great week!
