5 minute freewrite 2800 prompt no more stress
This is my post for #freewriters 2800 prompt no more stress hosted by @mariannewest
STRESS, are you ever 100% free of it? Since becoming an adult and out of my Dad's home, it has been one stressful thing after another.
Raising kids was stressful, and I was sure that once I got them raised, I would be stress free. That only got worse, now I worry more about them than I did when they were safe at home with me.
I have had a very stressful job. I did not get a paycheck unless I caught fish, no fish, no money. The weather was stressful, always trying to get a catch of fish before the thunderstorms started or being so cold that my hands stayed numb, and having not a breath of wind in the summer, sitting in a boat with sweat running in your eyes and the little flying ants that liked to bite the back of your neck.
Having to keep up with the gear I used fishing, working on reels, building nets, catching bait, keeping a boat in good shape, and the motor running. All with trying to keep a house clean and wash done. Some days it was too much.
I thought stress would end when I quit fishing, NOPE, it did not. It is not because of the money we are losing by me not fishing, it is caused by me still wanting to be out there, but knowing my body will not let me do it anymore. Getting old in itself is stressful.
I do not think there will be a time when I have no more stress. I have decided that there was always going to be something to worry about. My trick to dealing with it is to try not to dwell on the things that bother me. My husband does not understand how I can do this, he is a worrier, a BIG TIME WORRIER. He will let things bother him until he can not sleep because of the worrying. I guess that is his way of dealing with it.
I will deal with the stress because at this point in my life, I do not think I will ever be stress free until I am 6 feet under so I am in no hurry to have no more stress.

Reminds me of the classic Patrick F. McManus story, "The Worry Box." It's collected in The Good Samaritan Strikes Again, if you'd prefer to find it on paper. Hopefully this embedded video starts at 1:45. If not, click to that time stamp to skip his yapping at the start.
I felt like I could go to sleep listening to him talk. I do worry, but try not to worry about things that are out of my control.
Yeah, not the most engaging reader. I recommend the book. See if your local library has it or can get it.
The reality of our life in one sentence!
We all are having the same issue, more or less!

Yes, I agree, everyone stresses about something, I guess that is what makes us human, I wonder if animals stress over things.

Yeah friend @myjob we cannot really be in a stress free world. As long as one is breathing one will always have one thing or the other to worry about or stress him. But thank God who gives us all the grace to deal with them. Stay strong.
I think I handle the little stresses and I try not to dwell on the big ones.

I can totally relate with you on this. 😒 I was born a worrier too, but over the years slowly learning not to sweat the small stuff. I have much to learn though. Most times, I just 🙏 for everything that's beyond my control. Caring too much causes stress too, so I will need to care less at times. 😅 Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this.
An advance happy weekend...
