This is my post for #freewriters 2747 prompt in the fold hosted by @mariannewest

I hate, hate, hate, having to depend on someone to drive me around. This is why we bought an electric bike for me, but it bothers my hand to ride it. My daughter uses it more than I do, but this is the second time she has messed up the lock. Somehow, when she locks it, she twists the inside part and it changes the combination. It takes hours to get it unlocked by slowly turning each number until it feels loose.

I will take the bike if I need to go somewhere close and have no one to take me. I never thought I would be told not to drive. I have had 4 doctors tell me this. The cardiologist told me I could have a stroke at any time, but I was still driving after being told this. But when he came right out and said that he could lose his license if I was driving and he knew about it, and I would lose mine, too. I quit driving. I am no longer in the fold of drivers.

I have 190 bait in a holding pen, I put them under a friend's dock because of the holiday weekend. They have to be fed every day. My sister said she will take me to feed them. Today she had to be somewhere at 1 o'clock, so of course, by the time she got to my house, we were having a thunderstorm. We had to wait until it was over before leaving to feed the bait.

We saw and heard a lightning strike hit close to my house, it was a bright light and instantly followed by thunder, and I knew it hit close to us. When the storm was over and we were leaving my driveway, we saw three fire trucks coming down my road. I looked back toward the preserve and saw a lot of smoke. My daughter was sleeping, and I did not feel right about leaving with a fire that close, so I stopped at my husband's sister's house and told him about the fire so he could keep an eye on it.

When my sister and I got to the highway, smoke filled the air. I said I thought it was from the fire, but she said it was too much smoke, there had to be another fire. We drove around and did not see another fire anywhere. We went on to the dock and fed the bait. When we got back to my house, my husband, his brother, and sister were there, and all asked what fire? They saw one fire truck but no fire. I told them the other two trucks must be out on the preserve, and put it out. I was glad they could get it under control, and we did not have a huge fire like we had a few years ago.

This is why we pull everything out of the river for holiday weekends. One of my friend's sons entered a tournament fishing contest, and there was a tournament yesterday. He keeps his bait in a holding pen like we have and leaves it in the river. Someone took all of his bait, but he was able to catch more and went on to the ocean to fish. On his way in, he had motor trouble, so he missed the weigh-in time. To make a bad day worse, he had the winning fish.

Lighting, thunderstorm, fire- all are scary things! Good to hear that you are safe!

Sorry to hear about the restrictions upon you. Don't be rebellious :P

To make a bad day worse, he had the winning fish.

I don't understand it. How could, "having the winner fish" made the day worse?

These tournaments have a time limit the fishermen have to weigh in. If they are late, they can not enter their catch. With his motor trouble, he had to idle back to the marina and missed the time limit. But the fish he caught outweighed the fish that won, so if he would not have had trouble with the motor, he would have won.

I do not know what the prize was for this tournament, but some were 5K or over. I would think that with this being a holiday tournament, it would have paid big like that.
