This is my post for #freewriters 2949 prompt got a solution? hosted by @mariannewest

It was 50 degrees this morning, and we knew that with a drop in temperature, the river water would be cold, and it was. Pompano do not want to bite if the river water is under 65, it was 62. The tide was supposed to start flooding around 10 this morning, it did not change until noon and was back ebbing by 4. It is supposed to flow one way or the other every 6 hours, not 4.

It was 2 o'clock when the ocean water got to the North Bar, that is where the fish were at, and that is when we caught our first pompano.

We were on one anchoring and caught one, and I told my sister it was going to get in one of the other lines. She said she did not care, she was putting it in the boat. The lines got tangled and I told her to get the knife and cut her rig off. She starts to cut it in the middle, and I said NO, cut it where the knot is at, that way we can tie it back on. She cut it there, and I felt a fish on the other line, but it was still tangled, so she cut the rig in the middle, it is ruined. I got mad, because I do not like making rigs. I think she needs to learn how to make them, that way, she won't be so eager to cut them, and she might be more careful with unhooking catfish.

Have you *got a solution? These starfish are getting bad in the river, we used to not have so many. The bad part of catching them is the hook is in their mouth, and they are hard to unhook without killing them.

We have 7 or 8 pompano, we stayed until 4:30 and had to idle back up the creek to the boat ramp so it was 5:30 when we got home. We iced the fish in the boat and will take them to the fish house tomorrow.
