I smell inevitable blood, unfortunately, but I agree, the long term benefits should eat up past temporary pains.
Though I'm curious what could take the most hits?
I think blood is coming whether or not it goes to 24 hours!
I have no idea what might be affected most. Probably the sectors/countries that are slowest to go to 24/7.
I wasn't actually looking at the migration-phase hits (it's almost promised that lateness is rewarded with losses here), but what it means for global markets when everything is functioning on a layer that's accessible 24hrs.
Probably more chaos initially I guess, but probably settles out fairly quickly. Most of the markets are already HFT/bot driven and they will adapt very easily.
I suppose that's a good point. Almost makes it plausible to argue that current limitations are regulatory flaws and less about inherent risks.
The risks lie in the people not the logistics.
