Treatment process and How to deal with leaf falling off disease of Jute mallow

Hello Hive

As sweet as gardening can be, it doesn't come out so smoothly, as sometimes we may have to deal with the loss of veggies or an infection in the vegetables. Some infections can cause the entire veggies we plant in our garden to wither off, although all of these can be prevented if we look out for early signs of possible infections and get them treated on time.

A neighbor I have recently introduced to gardening and who has planted this jute mallow is experiencing some infection with the veggies. And since she lacked ideas on how to go about it, I was called upon to check the veggies a few days back.

Some of the reasons one can experience this leaf-falling-off disease are when there is overwatering or underwatering of the veggies. From all indications and the dry season we are in, I knew that the leaves had suffered from underwatering. I have earlier advised her to water it more and maybe make it twice daily, as the soil in which she has planted the veggies is really dry.

Yesterday evening I was able to check on the jute mallow veggies again to be sure if the water treatments were effective or if there were other signs. The leaf-falling-off disease can be caused by other infections too. Bacterial and fungal infections are also common, which can cause spots on the leaves before they get rotten and the entire veggies get destroyed.

I equally noticed that her planted jute mallow is overcrowded. They didn't grow well, and the leaves are very tiny compared to the ones I have grown in the past. Overcrowding among any kind of crops makes them compete for nutrients, which is even worse among vegetables as they are staying side by side with each other.

Just look at how a particular spot is overloaded with so many slender veggies instead of creating enough space for the veggies to grow thicker and with thicker leaves. She was after the quantity of growing so many veggies, not knowing that it would affect the quality of veggies at harvest.

I have offered to teach her how to plant this properly as soon as the harvest of this set is completed and if she intends to grow more veggies. Having had some personal experiences myself from growing jute, I'm glad that I can influence others to grow healthy veggies for their personal use at home.

Wow!
I just went through your blog and i must say that I'm very impressed by your posts especially the ones on agriculture.

Agriculture is not a very easy trade but the harvests are worth the effort. And you're doing a fine job on your farm(s). To know that you even grow beans is amazing.
Keep it up. God bless the works of your hands.
