Hive Open Days Alicante 2026 - Day 3
And we had day 3 - the boat trip to Tabarca Island, the most expected event of the Hive Open Days Alicante.

As we met at Ulab and we proceed to the port, we sorted out the transport, and one by one, like ducks in a row, we went into the boat.

As I was passing by a cruise ship, I couldn't notice how big it was. I may be willing to go on a cruise for a week or less, I was thinking.

Once of Tabarca, we got ready to explore the island.

The beach looked enticing, but the water was really cold, and I know that as I went into it, only up to my knees. No swimming this time.

So we went to have our lunch first, on some restaurant called Los Pescadores. We were served some fish, small and big, and some calamari rings.

Water, soda and wine accompanied the first meal, together with some salad bits.

We also had some arroz con atun (rice and tuna, similar with a seafood paella, I would say. But maybe I am wrong. One ice cream as dessert, and we were quite full.

My mum asked me to make a photo with some palm trees, so here I am, can you see this one, mum?

We found the little fishing village, but by now, there is a whole commercial approach, with restaurants and little gift shops, and the occasional hostel or hotel. There is no more the old style simple life, and I couldn't help to notice that the locals were a bit annoyed by the big number of tourists, more than the island can cope with, even if they enjoy making the extra money.

The Catholic religion is still alive here, as we can see looking around.

Maybe a remnant of a long lost tradition, in a modern world.

The streets were small and cosy, full of nostalgia.

Yet, I could see signs of erosion, of closed shops as they cannot find enough staff to maintain them, probably as their young are attracted to the big cities from the continent.

We were supposed to visit the local museum, but it was closed, maybe because it was weekend.

So we went around the island, cleaning it and picking up litter, as a Hive planned action for the Clean Planet initiative.

Surprisingly, it was quite fun, and I must say that this was a serious workout, for both legs and hands.

Can you see some pics of the island? I would like to stay here, at least a few months per year. Seems quiet at night, but I may be forced to learn how to fish first.

Some old buildings here, fortress looking, and even one lighthouse.

Birds, more birds, in funny postures.

As we went back to town, we got lost on the streets of Old Town, we found some beautiful decorated streets, celebrating Cruz de Mayo, as you can see in here.
And with this, our day come to an end, as I was a bit tired. Some of us still went to a microbrewery at 20.30, I am sure they had some fun in there. Tomorrow is the last day, with ca city treasure hunt organized by Worldmappin. It was nice while it lasted, and we did had some people joining Hive blockchain and making accounts, only to be quite confused about it, as it seems. We really need a one-click-setup, really really badly.
Who can do it?
Are those city pictures in Tabarca?
I was only on the rocky nature side of the island collecting trash so I didn't get to village there except for those abandoned houses
yes, all of them are from the island, except the last three.
It's a very beautiful place, and those are some very good food as well.
