Hmmm, the first time I started gathering my personal money. That was way back in my secondary school days. Then my father had a poultry farm and I was the one managing it. I mean, I was the one taking care of the poultry. I had small earning entering my pocket then. How was I making the earnings? The poultry waste was what I used to sell and keep the income for my personal use. When I pack the manure which people used to buy for vegetable production, I was permitted to keep the proceeds for my personal use. Sometimes, I will prefer to trek to the market so that I will keep the transport fare for my personal use.
As life was unfolding, I discovered I needed to do a little more to earn more income. Then I started preparing chicken meat and taking them out for sales during the evening. You know, that is enjoyment. Those who have money to entertain themselves usually get to joints or wherever they can get some kind of well prepared meat and drinks for refreshments. So, I was also preparing chicken meat and took it out. That was totally my own business.
I later graduated into making nylon. I learnt how to produce nylon which is used in selling items. I learned that from a friend I usually visited and spend time with. That was one of their family businesses. So, that increased my income for a while. I said for a while because I later abandoned that. When I had grown up above that age, I ventured into artistic and decorations. The art works and decorations made up my first professional earning adventure. I enjoyed that and it earned me quite a lot. I continue in this till I finally went into ministry work.
Most of us were forced into making money even at a very young age because the financial background of our lives was very poor. When you grew understand parents who scarcely provided for our financial needs, you would certainly source for how to generate income for yourself.
Being a farm manager at an early age and making money from selling manure, you must have been a rich kid back then, lol..
I envy those who learnt how to hustle at a very young age, it's really an experience I wish I had.
