Is This Finally Altcoin Season? | DeFi Journey #28
September, which is generally bearish for all crypto, has been on a tear, with many alts like PUMP and HYPE breaking all new time highs. Is this a sign for what is to come in Q4 2025? Is it finally altcoin season? Last week I was lamenting my 50% yield drop and bracing for more pain. This week? My DeFi portfolio, fees are up to $60.09, and all positions are up from last week.
Week 28 TLDR
- Yields Farmed: $60.08
- New Positions Entered: 1
- Positions Closed: 1
- Total Deposits: $7347.26
- Current Value: $7320.44
- Total Fees Farmed (Open Positions): $257.65
- Yearly APR: 38.47%
- Price Difference (Inc. Fees): $230.83 (+3.14%)
The numbers are telling a story I didn't expect to write this week. Portfolio up 3.14% overall and fees climbing back toward respectable levels. Not bad for a month that's supposed to be crypto winter.
Recap of Exited Positions
CL1-USDT/WBNB 0.01%
BNB went on what can only be described as a generational run this past week, finally knocking my position out of range after nearly a month of steady farming. After my standard 48-hour window (discipline matters, even when FOMO is screaming), I closed this position out in solid profit. It's almost inevitable we'll see BNB crack that psychological $1k barrier in Q4, but I will take 6.06% profit over a month while farming steady fees? This is what good DeFi looks like.

CLP Yield Farming Strategies
CL2000-USDC/AERO 1% - Base
My AERO position continues to be the star of the show. AERO is almost 5% in price this past week and representing half my total LP size, it makes sense that it's responsible for more than 50% of my weekly fees. This beast farmed another $31.78 in fees, and you know what I did? Doubled down with another $31.79 deposit. When something's working, you lean into it. This wide 80% range keeps printing fees regardless of AERO's price action.
- Date Entered: 2025-08-09 10:20
- In Range: Yes
- Range: $0.85 to $1.88 (80%)
- Weekly Yield Farmed: $31.79
- Total Fees Farmed: $202.25
- Total Deposits: $3343.00
- Current Value: $3446.22
- Current APR: 61.57%
- Price Difference (Inc. Fees): $305.47 (+9.14%)
CL10-ARB/USDC 0.05% - Arbitrum
As I mentioned last week, AERO and ARB move in correlated fashion, and this week that correlation worked in my favor. ARB saw an 8% price bump, finally putting this LP in a healthier state. Sure, it's still negative overall, but it's moving in the right direction. Farmed $16.87 in fees and added another $16.84 to the position. Still down 3.99% overall, but the trajectory is improving. Sometimes that's all you can ask for in this game.

- Current Value: $1670.15
- Current APR: 53.83%
- Price Difference (Inc. Fees): -$71.71 (-3.99%)
CL100-WETH/USDC 0.05% - Base
There's no altcoin season without ETH making new all-time highs, so I took those BNB exit funds and rolled them into a fresh ETH position. Went with a tight ±$500 range around current price levels. The fees in this pool have been generous lately with $1.3M+ being distributed to LPs every week. The real test comes over the next few weeks as ETH decides if it wants to break new ground or fake everyone out.
- Date Entered: 2025-09-14 7:00
- In Range: Yes
- Range: $4500.67 to $5023.97 (11%)
- Weekly Yield Farmed: n/a
- Total Fees Farmed: n/a
- Total Deposits: $2207.00
- Current Value: $2204.07
- Current APR: n/a
- Price Difference (Inc. Fees): -$2.93 (-0.13%)
The Bottom Line
The second week of September has come as a surprise as this week saw an increase in yields and overall portfolio value. Is this the start of altcoin season? One good week doesn't erase the fact that September is historically brutal for crypto. But when you see alts like PUMP and HYPE hitting new ATHs while major altcoins coins like BNB also moving... something's shifting. My yields climbing back toward $60+ feels significant. When LP fees increase, it usually means volume is returning. When volume returns, that's often the fuel for broader market recovery. The question everyone's asking is whether this is just a dead cat bounce or the beginning of Q4 madness. Based on my positions, I'm cautiously optimistic. But let's be real - this is crypto. One red daily candle could send everything tumbling back down. The key is staying disciplined with the process.
