Some things we own may not seem like much to others, but they mean a lot to us. Do you have something like that in your possession that has deep meaning, even though at first glance it may not be worth much? What makes it so special to you?

The value we place on the things or objects we own is of great value to each of us that others will never understand.

As I have grown up, I have not been one to accumulate things for their value. I have gone through different stages of valuing different things, such as postcards from friends. This does not mean much to people today, but I enjoy reading cards or postcards when I find them. I sit down to organise them and throw them away, but I end up arranging them and putting them back in the same place.

Other things, like books. A few days ago, I found a book called An Oasis in My Desert... I think that when my daughter went to Puerto Ordaz, Venezuela, to study, I left it for her so that when she felt the need to read something, she could do so. The truth is that this little book meant a lot to me in my loneliness when I was away from home for my studies. My daughter cleaned out the drawers in her room when she returned to the country and spent a few days with us. She threw away many things, including this book, but I found it in one of the drawers with a few of her things. It brought back fond memories, and I thought how nice that my daughter never thought of getting rid of it. Perhaps she realised how important it is to me.

I also keep some clothes in my wardrobe, and I even wear them despite the fact that they are a few years old. I like them because they are comfortable, I like the style and the colour, and they still fit in with current fashion. When I wear them, I don't feel out of fashion or out of style. Although I have never been guided by fashion when shopping, I see something I like and that's it. I have never been concerned about whether it is fashionable or not. Right now, I have a very classic pair of black trousers, and every time I wear them, they look very elegant.

I also have a small table at home that belonged to my mother. It was part of her first set of furniture. It is made of wood and has been in some of my siblings' homes until it came to mine. Now I value it more... I took it to the carpenter to have it restored, and it is beautiful. With the value I place on it, I feel it is even more beautiful.

It's true that other people might ask why I keep it, but I'm the only one who knows why.

Algunas cosas que poseemos pueden no parecer gran cosa para los demás, pero para nosotros significan mucho. ¿Tienes algo así en tu poder que tenga un profundo significado, aunque a simple vista no valga mucho? ¿Qué lo hace tan especial para ti?

El valor que damos a las cosas u objetos que poseemos son de gran valor para cada uno que nunca los demás lo entenderán.

En mi crecimiento no he sido de acumular cosas por el valor que les doy, he pasado por diferentes etapas de dar valor a diferentes cosas, postales de amistades, esto a las personas actualmente no les significa mucho, a mi me produce placer leer tarjetas o postales cuando las encuentro, me siento a organizar y que para llevar a la basura y termino acomodando y volviendo a colocarlas ordenadas en el mismo lugar.

Otras cosas libros, hace días encontré un libro de nombre un Oasis en Mi Desierto…creo que cuando mi hija salió a Puerto Ordaz Venezuela a estudiar se lo dejé para que cuando sintiera necesidad de leer algo lo hiciera, la verdad es que este pequeño libro significó mucho para mí en mis soledades cuando estuve fuera de casa por motivos de estudio, mi hija hizo limpieza en las gavetas de su cuarto cuando regresó al país, pasó unos días con nosotros. Allí llevó a la basura muchas cosas este libro No y lo encontré en una de las gavetas con pocas cosas de ella, me trajo bonitos recuerdos y pensé que bueno que mi hija nunca pensó en deshacerse de él, quizás pensó lo importante que es para mí.

Algunas prendas de vestir también las mantengo en mi closet, incluso hasta las uso a pesar de tener data de algunos años, me gustan por lo cómodo, el modelo, el color y todavía entran en el estilo actual. Cuando las usos no me siento fuera de la moda o lo que se estila utilizar. Aunque nunca me he guiado por la moda para comprar, veo algo me gusta y ya, nunca he estado pendiente si está de moda o no. En este momento tengo un pantalón negro muy clásico y cada vez que lo uso se ve muy elegante.

También tengo en mi casa una mesita que perteneció a mi madre, fue de su primer juego de muebles, es de madera, recorrió algunas de las casas de mis hermanos hasta que llegó a la mía, ahora la valoro más…la llevé con el carpintero para restaurarla, está hermosa y con el valor que le doy más hermosa la siento.

Es cierto quizás para otras personas dirán que porqué la conservo, yo soy la única que sé porqué.

Que hermoso tesoro esa mesita de madera, contiene el valor de a quien perteneció y que la mantienes en perfecto estado. Nos resulta maravilloso guardar algunas cosas que parecen no tener ningún valor económico solo el sentimental. Un abrazo.
