A few months ago I have controlled my reading a lot, not because I am no longer excited by books, but for other reasons. Another aspect, I consider that I lowered the level of reading books was when buying books became difficult because of the prices or the authors of my liking did not reach the bookstores. Listening to audio books seemed annoying to me, because I like to underline sentences that I can later look up and repeat reading. Then I had no choice but to adapt a bit to it...the process was to sit down with paper and pencil and write down those points that I considered important to me, then reflect on them.
