As human beings, there's a tendency to compare things that many don't like. On the contrary, saying "similar to me" can be seen or felt in a different tone... when we don't like something and someone makes the comment, we say "similar to me," and the conversation begins about why or why we consider it similar.
The same thing happens with children. When we say "similar to their father," the girl says "similar to her mother." This similarity is associated with physical appearance, behavior, speech, even the topics of conversation; it's always said "similar."
There are stories that have nothing to do with family members, children, or siblings; on the contrary, they have to do with friends or acquaintances. This may be because as human beings we are one, and the connection is always there; some unity is present, and we say "similar to me."
As others say, they are mirrors. I look at him and look at myself... similar to me.
