New Season New Format
In time we see some fascinating improvements in the Splinterlands ecosystem and it happened again. The roll out of Frontier with the exclusive use of Foundations cards is the exact recipe for play to earn.
Players go on quests in Campaign to accumulate Foundation cards and meanwhile learn the rules and stories behind the game. The earned cards can then be used to play in rank battles to earn actual rewards.
It levels the playing field for all as even whales start at ground zero and build their cards from there. Although as any free market there will be Foundation cards available for purchase which likely will push down prices.
What is so great about this new format comes down to lowering the barrier of entry. Players that have nothing can still yield Splinterlands assets. Meanwhile the game can now have more players adapting in.

I am currently struggling to get my first Frontier battle win but continue playing to see where that comes me. Level 1 cards are not enough to compete, but then again maybe I lack the skills to play this game well?
Still I want to try and get the daily reward by winning 3 battles a day.
On this last season I was able to score some Glints at end of season but here are the final results.
My staking of SPS is yielding me the most in terms of rewards. My guild and rank battles are the lowest in seasons and contributing very little to my overall rewards yield.
In the new season I was able to continue building my DEC stake amount and improving my overall land production.
I hope to be able reach 100% DEC staked in order to get my land production utilize to the max.

I don't know how to position my feelings about this... An old saying goes, "fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me". Watching my Alpha, Beta, etc, constantly dropping in value, and then being forced out of the gameplay for rewards left me with deep scars...
I have the exact same sentiment. Yet it is better than getting rug pulled in other crypto projects. At least in this one legacy cards still exists and hopefully one day there will be greater demand for them.

It's rough in the current modern, but I think the foundational mode is a nice way for older players to get in. I don't exactly see myself going there as much though because it doesn't reward any SPS for wins. It's also tough to win matches to get the daily rewards.
I hear you and I am playing with Foundation only for the thrill of it. I have not enough cards to partake in Modern and not willing to sink 2k DEC into Wild just yet.
