Tied by love, broken by betrayal

Betrayal is one thing no one ever wishes to be part of their story. But unfortunately sad things happen and one ends up being broken.
That was exactly what happened in Daniel and Ife's story. Both of them were inseparable from high school , their relationship started from strong friendship, confiding in each other, studying together, and having fun.

Daniel asked Ife to be his girlfriend when they were still at uni and Ife was so excited about it. Their relationship went on for months and they both promised each other forever and that no matter what happens they'd stick to each other and they believed in their love so much.

They both finally graduated from the University and it turned out they couldn't get a job using their certificates or that aligned with the course they studied. So they both decided to do the minimum wage jobs that were available whu waiting for a real job.

Daniel ended up working for a company as their Janitor while Ife got a waitress job. Things seemed to be going well at least now that they have a little money coming in, and soon Daniel wanted to move their relationship forward. They both got married and were still doing the jobs they had and all.

But things were soon about to get harder, with the news Ife brought home. She was pregnant! Well at first Daniel was happy, at least he claimed to be. He said he loved to be a Dad and this was his dream coming through.
But then due to complications and issues in the pregnancy,.Ife was let go of her job and Daniel was now the only one working, buying all of the baby stuffs they needed, taking Ife to Doctor's appointments and buying all the required medications she needed.

He was getting really stressed by the day and Ife's pregnancy hormones had started to kick in as she was always nagging and Daniel was getting frustrated.

Daniel tried to hide his frustration and pretend everything was okay, but the weight was getting heavier on his shoulders and each time Ife asked for something new for the baby or when she breaks down from the pains of pregnancy, his frustration grew further.

The perfect nights they used to have that was filled with laughter and their silly dreams for the future turned into nights of silence, arguments and slammed doors, and even sleeping on couch.

One evening Daniel came home late, and Ife perceived a different perfume that wasn't hers.
" Daniel, why are you home so late?" Ife asked weakly from the couch with her swollen feet propped on a pillow.

"Work!" Daniel muttered.

Well Ife didn't press further though her instincts told her something was off.

As weeks passed, Daniel became more distant. He is never home, and when he finally comes home he's always on his phone smiling at messages while Ife struggled with backaches and morning sicknesses. This was a time she needed him the most but he seemed to be going further away.

Then the moment of truth came, the breaking point. Ife found out her beloved husband whom she hoped would support her was seeing someone else.
Daniel was seeing an Instagram model he recently met online , he was captivated by her looks and the attention she gave him so he thought that being with the girl would change his life forever.

Ife confronted him with tears streaming down her face, but Daniel didn't even try to deny it.

"You've ruined my life, Ife," He spat out.

"What?" She whispered with a breaking heart.

"Look at me, I had dreams, very big dreams, but now I'm stuck with cleaning floors for peanuts, paying bills and babysitting a grown woman who nags all day. I'm sick and tired of all these, you tied me down with this pregnancy, I could have had a better life, but you, you destroyed it."

These words broke Ife further, her knees buckled and she sank to the floor, sobbing. She couldn't believe that the man who once promised her forever is betraying him and was now blaming her for everything.

A few hours after that speech, Daniel packed his bags, and without remorse, he left his wife, his unborn child for the shallow promise of glitz and glamour with someone he barely even knew, leaving Ife shattered and with nothing but the weight of betrayal and the little heartbeat inside her reminding her she was betrayed by a man who promised her forever and who was his best friend. Someone who she never imagined would have betrayed her.

Days became weeks and Ife slowly began to find her footing even though the pain of Daniels betrayal cut very deep. She realized crying would not stop the baby from coming and waiting for Daniel to return will only keep breaking her.

Her parents and close friends were of great help to her, with their help, she managed to prepare for the baby's arrival, and finally the bay was born, and she cherished the baby boy since was the reason she kept going.
Looking into her baby's eyes gave her so much strength and resilient and the support of her family and friends was priceless. She was determined to raise her boy well, to be resilient and honest in all things and she was proud of his every step, and she was glad she never gave up on the boy.
