Shifting from Materialism to Fulfillment

When we were kids we always talked and dreamed of a successful Career, one that will fetch us a lot of money so we can buy so many nice things, I remember even promising my father to buy him cars and houses, hehe.
Well growing up we get to face the real life and not fantasies, and it's not just about that, we got to understand the real purpose of life.
That time I used to think that happiness was tied to having so much more things, latest cars, latest phones and gadgets. But he more I grow and I think about it, having more items especially those I didn't need was becoming a burden, there's this time we had so much clothes at home that from while to while we had to give it out because we didn't really need them and most of them don't fit right.
Having plenty ends us weighing us down instead of feeling fulfilled.

I realized that material possessions won't really add value to my life, the way I see rich people are no different from the way I see people of lesser means, people's worth shouldn't be measured by what they own.

So for me I like to think deeply before getting something new as to whether I really need it or not because when I did impulsive buying those things ended up consuming space and cluttering and causing distractions from what really mattered.
So decluttering and downsizing was the best option.
It's not always easy to do this as we might still be thinking that "What if I need his later?" But the more J let go the more lighter and fulfilled I feel.
I end up with a more calm space and peace of mind.

And his has taught me that fulfillment doesn't come from dozens of material things but from living with purpose.
Decluttering frees up both physical space and also emotional and mental space.
It leaves me focusing on experiences, growth and relationships, having more time for he people I love and more energy to sew and create nice stuffs.
So I know the kind of life I want to live and it's not one that is filled with materialism. It's the purpose driven life, a life where I'm really in charge and not the other way round.
I no longer care about he views of he society, I love to do what I really love, and what lives me feeling fulfilled, having time for my loved ones. And with this I have joy, gratitude and real life purpose.
