As the top designer for Emerald Interiors, Lara was confident she'd spearhead the Halal project, and had spent days perfecting her pitch. But due to power play, the company benched her in favor of a junior team member - a decision that not only proved counterproductive but costed them valuable expertise.

It's no surprise that backroom deals, office politics and favoritism, rather than merit are what's driving decision-making at the top level of management in most organizations, be it government, public or private. You'd see less qualified staff taking up positions meant for more seasoned professionals, because they're connected or have affiliations with top management team members.
It's really unfortunate that unethical practices are now given the front - row seats in the workplaces.
