Well, it is a general answer/advice on how you best behave/act on any social attention platform:

I recall becoming increasingly upset about downvoting some time ago. Despite never having been a victim. Because I was reading other people's tales of woe. Then I got so annoyed by my perception of the unfairness that I almost quit Hive.
However, I got very encouraging responses from one or two people. Unfortunately, I can't remember who or when. But the gist of the advice was to focus on what I enjoyed about Hive, and ignore the perceived downsides. And I now realize that there simply isn't any alternative platform that gives so many learning and entertainment opportunities in one place.

The best advice I have received on Hive has come from Ecency. "if you love it, set it free'. Developers give away their work and make it open source so that everyone can use it. I try to follow the example they set.
Make an introduction post.
I didn't know how to start after lurking for months. And while commenting on other people's content, LivingUKTaiwan suggested I create an introduction post. I did, and Hive has become my home since.😊
Always remember to vote and not let my power hit 100. :)
I got started with Hive on the advice of @jongolson and then I watched every one of his training videos (on the old Click Track Profit platform) to get off to a good start. One bit of his advice that I didn't take in the early days was to get active in Splinterlands... I joined, but didn't want to "get sucked in" and spend too much time on the platform. Then I got some good advice from somebody about the high interest that you could earn by staking SPS! You have to do that inside Splinterlands, so I started to log in and stake SPS... and ended up getting sucked into the game! These days the interest rate on SPS is not so high, but I'm highly engaged with the game - running a guild, and harvesting several plots of land... Whether "stake SPS" was ultimately good financial advice, I don't know, but I have a lot of fun with Splinterlands.
Oh, and here's some advice for you, dear reader: Join my Splinterlands guild!
