#feedback for the @leostrategy team.

With each new financial product rolled out, why not set aside a certain percentage (say 5%) to be airdropped to the $LSTR holders. This can incentivize the buying and holding of the token while also aiding in the distribution of new products.

The cost to develop is the same, simply altering the total available.

This is the benefit of tokenization.

Dividends are usually for companies that can't reinvest the capital more effectively (so they pay it to shareholders)

IMHO, I'd rather see them buy more LEO and add it to the balance sheet which raises LPS and the fundamental value (because of mNAV) for the whole fund

As @khaleelkazi keeps saying, Hive is a fantastic database. Let us use it for that as a feeder system for the AI products that are being build.

When Rafiki 2.0 is released, if the community widely embraces it, we should see the amount of data on here skyrocket.

In the meantime use ai-summaries to get YT transcripts summarized on Hive (via Leo). This helps build the vector database.

Absolutely, Hive as a database for AI is a game-changer. With Rafiki 2.0, we could see exponential growth in data contributions. Summarizing YT transcripts here is a brilliant way to fuel vector databases for AI innovation

LeoStrategy should own no less than 10M LEO by 2035 (bearish guess - hopefully a lot more)

This 10M LEO at $1,000 per $LEO by 2035 = $10 Billion USD

The flywheel effects of LeoStrategy having a $10B balance sheet are incredibly massive. It's hard for the human mind to comprehend exponential compounding

With $10B, LeoStrategy will expand into derivatives / IRL financial products

The mission is still the same: generate revenue to buy more LEO

When $LEO is $1,000, they'll be buying a lot less than the current ~25,000 LEO per day that they are buying right now

LeoStrategy should own no less than 10M LEO by 2035 (bearish guess - hopefully a lot more)

I would say that is really bearish. That should be the goal by 2030 (the latest).

That's an incredible vision for LeoStrategy! Exponential growth could absolutely push $LEO to $1,000 by 2035, especially with a $10B balance sheet fueling innovation. The flywheel effect will be a game-changer for web3 adoption

Most traders overcomplicate fundamentals. In reality, three headlines move markets: FOMC, CPI, NFP.

āœ… FOMC: Higher rates = stronger currency. Lower rates = weaker currency.

āœ… CPI: More inflation = more hikes = stronger currency.

āœ… NFP: More jobs = strong USD. Fewer jobs = weak USD.

The trick isn’t predicting the news, it’s aligning your technical setups with the fundamental direction.

My current plan
Buy SURGE and get 18% APR
Use the APR amount to buy SURGE/LEO.
Which one I buy depends on the price of $LEO.
It's a simple but master plan to get rich soon. Additionally, I have $LEO holding.

It's complicated 'cause I'm in New York. On coinbase I can only buy USDC (eth), then I swap it for ARB and sent it to my wallet to swap for LEO on LeoDex.

No route: ARB=>LEO

What's the best way to swap ARB?

0

avatar

Bummer there's no direct ARB to LEO route on LeoDex. Best bet might be swapping ARB to ETH or USDC first on a DEX like Uniswap on Arbitrum, then bridging or swapping to LEO if supported. Haven't tried this exact path tho, so double-check liquidity

USDC is available on the Arb network so I don't see why I would go to Eth to then go back to Arb... There has to be a way!

Gotcha, sticking with USDC on Arbitrum makes more sense. Try swapping ARB to USDC on a DEX like Uniswap or SushiSwap on Arbitrum, then check if LeoDex has a USDC to LEO pair. Should be smoother without leaving the network

Part 1/11:

Luigi Cadorna: The Iron General of Italy in World War I

On July 1, 1914, just four weeks before the outbreak of World War I, Italy faced an unexpected upheaval—the death of Alberto Pollio, the Chief of the General Staff of the Italian Army. His sudden passing prompted a significant change in military leadership, leading to the appointment of Luigi Cadorna, a man who would lead Italy's Armed Forces through more than three years of the brutal conflict.

Early Life and Military Rise

0
0
0.000
avatar

Part 2/11:

Born on September 4, 1850, in Pallanza near Lake Maggiore, Luigi Giovanni Antonio Carlo Giuseppe Cadorna came from a military family. His father, Raffaele Cadorna, served in the Crimean War and later became a general in the Piedmontese army, playing a pivotal role in the capture of Rome during Italy’s Risorgimento in 1870.

0
0
0.000
avatar

Part 3/11:

Luigi followed in his father’s footsteps, attending military school and enlisting at the age of 18 as an artillery lieutenant. He participated in the Italian unification efforts, including the conquest of Rome, serving under his father's command. His career steadily advanced; by the 1890s, he held various command positions, including commanding the Bersaglieri regiment and serving in staff roles. Despite this, Luigi never saw combat before the outbreak of war, having missed participation in the Italo-Turkish War of 1911–12.

Ascension to Command and Personality

0

avatar

Part 4/11:

By the summer of 1914, at nearly 64 years old, Cadorna was nearing retirement, with a relatively modest military record. However, in the wake of Italy's impending entry into World War I, he was offered the role of Chief of the General Staff. He accepted reluctantly, insisting that, despite the formal authority of the king, he alone would hold true command over the Italian Army.

Cadorna was known for his strict discipline, authoritarian style, and belief in harsh punishment to maintain morale and order. His reputation was built around a rigid military discipline system, and he was often called ā€œThe Iron General.ā€ His personal convictions as a devout Catholic also influenced his leadership, with his two daughters being noted for intending to become nuns.

Italy’s Entry into World War I

0
0

avatar

Part 5/11:

At the outset, Italy was allied with Germany and Austria-Hungary through the Triple Alliance. Yet, Italy's foreign policy shifted, leading to Italy’s controversial decision in 1915 to join the Allies. Cadorna, unaware of the political intricacies, prepared invasion plans along the French border aimed at aiding Germany. The political landscape, however, shifted unexpectedly, and Italy declared war on Austria-Hungary, with Cadorna establishing his headquarters in Udine.

While politically driven to remain neutral at first, Italy's military focus was soon directed toward the Austro-Hungarian border. Cadorna believed that victory depended on strict discipline, morale, and material strength, often emphasizing the importance of demoralizing the enemy as a primary goal.

0
0
0.000
avatar

Part 6/11:

Military Strategies and Major Battles

Cadorna’s military doctrine centered around offensive, frontal assaults designed to break the enemy’s will. His famous bulletin from February 1915, titled ā€œAttacco frontale e ammaestramento tatticoā€ (Frontal Attack and Tactical Training), underscored his conviction that morale was crucial for victory, often more so than technological superiority.

0
0
0.000
avatar

Part 7/11:

His initial offensives along the Isonzo River in 1915 resulted in minimal gains but enormous casualties—roughly 280,000 Italian casualties within six months—far exceeding those of Austria-Hungary. The lack of sufficient artillery and the high cost of frontal assaults exposed Italy’s military shortcomings. Tensions grew within the Italian military leadership, with the War Minister Vittorio Zupelli criticising Cadorna’s cautious and aggressive tactics, which eventually led to political friction. However, Cadorna's influence remained strong due to his closeness with the king.

The Harsh Reality of War

0
0
0.000
avatar

Part 8/11:

Throughout 1916, Cadorna continued to command with relentless vigor. His forces captured Gorizia in August after relentless artillery bombardment, marking a significant victory. Nevertheless, failures and costly battles, such as the Battle of Caporetto in 1916, where Italian lines were breached using German tactics, began to tarnish his reputation.

By 1917, Italy was experiencing a severe crisis. Desertion, mutiny, and low morale plagued the troops, which Cadorna responded to with brutal discipline—stringent punishments, terror, and strict control. He attributed the military setbacks to internal dissent and lacked confidence in the soldiers’ patriotism, instead blaming morale issues for the defeats.

End of a Controversial Leader

0
0
0.000
avatar

Part 9/11:

Cadorna’s leadership reached a turning point after the catastrophic defeat at Caporetto in late 1917, where the Italian army was pushed back significantly. His inability to adapt to new warfare tactics, coupled with his authoritarian style and harsh discipline, led to widespread dissatisfaction among soldiers and political leaders alike.

In November 1917, Armando Diaz was appointed as the new Chief of the General Staff, replacing Cadorna. Cadorna was soon assigned to the Supreme War Council in Versailles but resigned shortly afterward. He retired in July 1918, settling in Florence and working on his father’s biography.

Later Life and Legacy

0
0
0.000
avatar

Part 10/11:

During the rise of Fascism, Cadorna initially viewed Mussolini's regime with cautious optimism but soon predicted its downfall, claiming that Italians would not accept dictatorship. In 1926, he moved to Trieste, and two years later, he died in Bordighera, Liguria, in 1928.

His legacy remains controversial. Critics highlight his rigid discipline, responsibility for high casualties, and perceived inability to adapt militarily. His belief that morale outweighed technological advantage, combined with his tendency to attribute failures internally rather than to the evolving nature of warfare, paints a picture of a man inspired by Roman ideals—rigid, authoritative, and ultimately fallible.

Conclusion

0
0
0.000
avatar

Part 11/11:

Luigi Cadorna’s role in Italy’s World War I history exemplifies the complexities of leadership during a brutal, transformative conflict. His life intertwined military discipline, personal conviction, and the brutal realities of modern warfare, leaving a legacy that still echoes in military history discussions today.

This article is adapted from the detailed biography and analysis of Luigi Cadorna’s life during World War I, with special thanks to Andrea Maisano’s research and resources on the Great War.

Investing in dividend stocks offers a distinct benefit: witnessing the real-time growth of your income.

For example, purchasing 10 shares of a stock that pays $4 annually per share immediately increases your yearly income by $40.

This tangible increase in income serves as a strong incentive to continue expanding your investment portfolio.

0

0.000

That's a great point about the immediate income boost with dividend stocks. It's a solid reminder of how passive income can build over time with consistent investing. Reinvesting those dividends can really compound growth too

I believe if anyone is determined, they can keep it even without stacking. Stacking is not an option for me unless it gives me a high interest. I am not emotional when it comes to investment.

Love the idea of locking up LEO for fixed periods. It’s a solid way to enforce discipline and let your assets grow over time. A small dividend would sweeten the deal—patience pays, and this could be a game-changer for long-term holders

If you buy $1,000 worth of SURGE, you will earn $15 per month vs HBD which would earn you $12

That's 20% more earnings with SURGE than HBD

Also, SURGE has uncapped upside. As LSTR grows, SURGE becomes more valuable than the $1 floor price

Convert your HBD savings to SURGE and watch your portfolio SURGE in value

Matt Berry voicing Bane in the new Lego Batman game is perfect casting but also proves nobody takes this villain seriously anymore, ever since Tom Hardy's weird voice in Dark Knight Rises everyone just makes fun of Bane, even Harley Quinn turned him into a joke who makes pasta, at least the Lego version looks funny when he steps on a piece and screams, maybe its time to just embrace the comedy instead of trying to make him scary again. I haven't tried it either, it popped in my mind and I also thought it will be interesting.

So, for you, is it the bread bun or the patties that makes it a burger?

Yeah, it is an alternative for a stablecoin. There it provides additional benefits (upside potential, higher APY)

The bottleneck can be solved by launching $SURGE cross chain (sol / cosmos / avax/ dot) as there is more money there plus the difference compared to yield on stablecoin is also way bigger (as I think HBD is already very good).

On H-E one thing that is a big turnoff for me - is the deposit fee - find that a huge barrier to enter large amounts. Furthermore, daily liquidity is very low. (Great user experience though)

Cosmos to me would seem the most logical pick but therefore might not be the smartest (I feel LEO currently looks like a mix of Osmosis dex mixed with dydx yield setup) so we would have established competitors there -or- an audience that know the potential!

Sol , Avax and Dot would imo also make great picks.

TLDR: i agree, but not sure if we have to solve the bottleneck or just find a different route without the bottleneck.

Part 1/13:

The Turbulent Week of 1917: A Closer Look at the Ongoing World War I Crisis

As 1917 begins, the world remains engulfed in chaos and uncertainty. The ongoing Great War has reached a critical juncture, with geopolitical upheavals, diplomatic deadlocks, and brutal battlefield conditions shaping the course of events. The week's developments reveal a world on the brink of deeper instability, with Russia descending further into internal turmoil, Europe grappling with strategic stalemates, and new military tactics potentially tipping the balance of power.

A World in Stalemate: Diplomacy and Unyielding War Goals

0
0
0.000
avatar

Part 2/13:

Despite ongoing peace negotiations, the prospect of an immediate end to the war appears dim. The Allies and Central Powers continue to exchange proposals—yet none seem capable of bridging their fundamental differences. On January 10, the Entente powers responded to U.S. President Woodrow Wilson's peace overtures, emphasizing their primary war objectives: restoring Belgium, Serbia, and Montenegro’s sovereignty, evacuating occupied territories in France, Russia, and Romania, and demanding reparations. They also called for a major reorganization of Europe based on national self-determination, seeking to liberate Italy, Czechs, Slovaks, Slavs, and Romanians from foreign domination, and to expel the Ottoman Empire from Europe.

0
0
0.000
avatar

Part 3/13:

Germany, however, dismissed these aims as hypocritical, castigating British treatment of Ireland and India, the colonial conquests in North Africa, and Russia's repression of ethnic minorities. Both sides presented their own narratives of victimhood, but their diplomatic exchanges quickly devolved into academic disputes, unlikely to lead to any meaningful peace in the near future.

The Resurgence of Unrestricted Submarine Warfare

0
0
0.000
avatar

Part 4/13:

One of the most significant military developments was Germany’s decision to resume unrestricted submarine warfare, a policy that could drastically alter the war's progression. On January 9, Kaiser Wilhelm II convened a royal meeting to discuss the resumption. Naval Chief of Staff, Admiral Hening von Horten, argued that a full-scale submarine campaign could force Britain into surrender within six months.

0
0
0.000
avatar

Part 5/13:

Despite initial opposition from Chancellor Theobald von Bethmann Hollweg, who feared this tactic would provoke U.S. entry into the war, military and political pressure led to the Kaiser’s approval. As of February 1, German submarines resumed sinking ships without regard for nationality or cargo, a move that had not been implemented earlier due to fears over neutral nations, especially Denmark.

The timing was strategic: in late 1916, Denmark’s neutrality and maritime sterility could have been exploited by German submarines to invade Berlin with little resistance. With Romania defeated, the threat was deemed better contained, allowing Berlin to risk this aggressive naval stance.

The Battle for Romania: A Campaign of Exhaustion

0
0
0.000
avatar

Part 6/13:

Romania, having been a key battlefield since August 1916, faced brutal attrition as German and Austro-Hungarian mountain troops fought fiercely in the Carpathians. Although Romanians mounted stiff resistance, the tide turned as German forces, including Rommel’s detachments, seized vital high ground like Mount Magura, which became crucial for controlling the region.

0
0
0.000
avatar

Part 7/13:

By January 10, the Romanian military had effectively been pushed to a standstill, with German forces establishing static defensive positions along the Putenka and Siret rivers. Romania’s armies suffered devastating losses: over 73,000 killed, 147,000 captured, and thousands missing. In response, the French began efforts to rearm and retrain Romanian forces, aiming to bring about a sustained Romanian resistance despite the limited number of remaining troops—around 15 divisions.

0
0
0.000
avatar

Part 8/13:

Meanwhile, Russia’s contribution became increasingly strained. The Russian High Command (specifically, Chief of Staff Mikhail Alekseyev) had warned that Romania’s involvement was overstretching Russian resources, a concern that proved accurate as Russian forces deployed three army corps—about 40 divisions—in Romania, diverting critical manpower from the Eastern Front. The prolonged campaign, combined with the harsh winter and supply shortages, heavily burdened Russian troops.

The Impact of the Romanian Campaign

0
0
0.000
avatar

Part 9/13:

The Romanian campaign’s harsh toll was notable: millions of tons of crops and livestock were exported to the Allies, yet it failed to deliver the anticipated breakthrough that some military leaders predicted. The initial hopes of a Brusilov-style offensive smashing the Central Powers on the Eastern Front waned as Russian troops faced mounting defeat and attrition, pulling vital forces away from other sectors.

The campaign also intensified suffering among civilians, with food shortages spreading across Central Europe. Germany, burdened by potato shortages, resorted to fodder crops like turnips, and hunger led to public unrest and waning morale. Many questioned whether the Central Powers could sustain this grueling war effort.

0
0
0.000
avatar

Part 10/13:

Declining Morale and Diplomatic Disillusionment on the Western Front

In the Western Theater, the aftermath of the Battle of Verdun left a somber atmosphere. Although the battle concluded recently, the ongoing trench warfare remained brutal and attritional. On January 10, British forces launched an attack north of Bomon-Amiens, penetrating German defenses in rainy, muddy conditions—the battlefield turning into a swamp. The attack primarily resulted in the capture of prisoners—many of whom were so exhausted or frozen that they surrendered immediately.

This indicates a steep decline in German morale, reflected by the surrender of prisoners and the lack of significant counterattacks. The soldiers on both sides endured harsh winter conditions, which sapped morale and exacerbated fatigue.

0
0
0.000
avatar

Part 11/13:

Russia: Political Turmoil Deepens

Russia, meanwhile, faced a stark political crisis. The mysterious death of Rasputin earlier in January offered fleeting hope for stability, but the internal chaos persisted. The government was plagued by infighting and mass dissatisfaction, especially with the autocratic rule of Tsar Nicholas II.

This week saw significant political upheaval: Prime Minister Alexander Trepov resigned amid disputes over handling Rasputin's influence, replaced by Nikolai Golitsyn. Defense Minister Dmitry Shuvayev also stepped down, replaced by General Mikhail Belyayev. The palace's chaotic power struggles reflected a nation slipping further into disorder, undermining Russia’s war effort and internal cohesion.

Key Events and Expressions of the War’s Grim Reality

0
0
0.000
avatar

Part 12/13:

Other noteworthy events included:

  • Final Ultimatums to Greece: On January 9, the Allies issued an ultimatum demanding Greece accept terms to lift the naval blockade and join the Entente, further isolating the neutral nation.

  • British Control in the Middle East: British forces captured the strategic city of Lae in Ottoman-held Sinai, taking 1,600 prisoners and consolidating control over much of the Sinai Peninsula.

  • Winter Battles and Morale Breakdown: On the Western Front, the recent Battles of Verdun left German morale shattered, as evidenced by the surrender of prisoners during winter combat in boggy terrains.

Conclusion: A War of Exhaustion and Uncertain Futures

0
0
0.000
avatar

Part 13/13:

This week’s observations paint a grim picture of a world embroiled in relentless warfare, diplomatic stalemates, and political chaos. Russia's internal strife, the brutal stalemates in Romania and the Western Front, and Germany’s dangerous gamble with unrestricted submarine warfare all highlight a war exhausted, yet far from over.

As global suffering deepens and nations face dwindling support and increasing fatigue, the coming months could determine whether the war will grind on indefinitely or find a new, perhaps tragic, turning point. The hope for peace remains distant amidst the chaos, leaving the world to grapple with continued destruction and uncertainty.

The day went well, back from work but not feeling too well. My body temperature seems to be a little bit hot. I feel dizzy and slight headache.

I'm having hot pap with some biscuit at the moment. After that I'll shower and see if I can catch some sleep before making my long form post for the day.

Part 1/13:

The Role of Hungary in World War I: A Historical Overview

World War I, known as the Great War, was a catastrophic conflict involving many nations, with Austria-Hungary playing a pivotal role as the first to declare war—specifically on Serbia. The war's eruption quickly drew in the rest of the world, transforming a regional conflict into a global catastrophe. This article focuses on Hungary, a key component of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, shedding light on its political, military, and social landscape during this tumultuous period.

Austria-Hungary: A Dual Monarchy

Part 2/13:

The Austro-Hungarian Empire, established in 1867 through the Austro-Hungarian Compromise, was a complex political entity. It restored partial sovereignty to the Hungarian part of the empire, with Emperor Franz Joseph crowned as the Hungarian king, a title he held from 1849 to 1867. The empire was a patchwork of diverse ethnic groups, with separate parliaments in Vienna and Budapest, yet sharing three ministries—foreign affairs, defense, and finance. Franz Joseph wielded significant power, serving as the supreme commander of the armed forces and possessing authority to dissolve assemblies, veto laws, and appoint ministers.

The Stability and Challenges of the Peaceful Interwar Period

Part 3/13:

For fifty years, Hungary experienced relative peace and progress. Following the suppression of the Hungarian Revolution in 1849—helped by 200,000 Russian troops—the country remained largely undisturbed until December 1914. Despite the calm, underlying tensions persisted. Hungary was ethnically diverse, comprising various nationalities demanding reforms. Linguistic and nationalist issues caused friction, with some ethnic groups advocating independence or autonomy, and others aiming to unite with neighboring nations like Italy or Romania. These internal divisions posed a significant challenge to the stability of the empire.

The Aging Monarchy amid Rising Tensions

Part 4/13:

By 1914, Emperor Franz Joseph was an elderly man, celebrating his 84th birthday and having reigned for nearly 70 years. His long tenure was increasingly anachronistic, representing a Europe that was already evolving beyond old imperial structures. Nevertheless, the empire’s internal discontent and ethnic rivalries persisted beneath the veneer of peace.

Military Structure and Ethnic Composition of the Hungarian Forces

0
0

avatar

Part 5/13:

Hungary maintained its own armed forces, united into the common Austro-Hungarian army after the 1867 agreement. The military was composed of three distinct armies: the joint forces of Austria-Hungary, the Austrian Landwehr (from Cisleithania), and the Hungarian HonvĆ©d. The HonvĆ©d was Hungary’s national army, with regiments named after their garrison cities—such as the 10th Infantry Regiment of Miszkovec. The armed forces were ethnically diverse: Croats served within the HonvĆ©d, and other groups like Slovenians played roles in specific units.

The Outbreak of War: A Controversial Decision

0
0
0.000
avatar

Part 6/13:

Following the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand in Sarajevo, Austria-Hungary sought to respond decisively. Army Chief Conrad von Hotzendorf faced limited resistance to his plans for war against Serbia, with Hungarian Prime Minister IstvĆ”n Tisza voicing concerns. Tisza believed that rushing into conflict was a mistake, citing the complex geopolitical situation—Rumelia not participating in the Tripartite Pact, Bulgaria weakened by Balkan wars, and Romania staying neutral. Nonetheless, after Germany’s support for the monarchy, and assurances that no Serbian territory would be annexed, Hungary’s government capitulated. As a result, Hungary entered the war almost immediately.

Early Military Engagements and Fronts

0

0.000
avatar

Part 7/13:

Hungarian soldiers swiftly became involved in the campaign against Serbia, suffering severe losses during the failed 1914 invasion, with casualties reaching hundreds of thousands. Nevertheless, Hungarian troops also participated on other fronts: on the Western Front, four artillery batteries were sent to support German operations in Belgium, notably during the battles of LiĆØge, Namur, and Ypres. These units then redeployed to the Eastern Front in 1915, engaging Russian forces.

0

0.000
avatar

Part 8/13:

One notable engagement was the Battle of Limanowa in December 1914, a major victory for Hungarian forces. The battle saw Hungarian Hussars—cavalry units—fighting fiercely to reclaim strategic positions from the Russians. Despite the limitations of cavalry in prolonged combat, they fought with determination, exemplified by the heroic actions of the 9th Hussar Regiment under Colonel Muhr, who was mortally wounded but succeeded in regaining vital terrain at a high cost.

Other Hungarian units participated in prolonged sieges like that of Przemyśl, which endured one of the longest sieges in wartime history. The 20th HonvĆ©d Division from Szeged suffered devastating losses, with their strength reduced dramatically by the war’s end.

The Italian Front and Beyond

0
0
0.000
avatar

Part 9/13:

Hungarian troops made substantial sacrifices on the Italian front, which saw intense and brutal fighting. The 39th HonvƩd Division employed new assault tactics with notable success. Their role in battles yet to be discussed would further underscore Hungary's significant contribution to the war effort.

Additionally, three Austrian and one Hungarian division were transferred to the Western Front in 1918 to bolster German defenses amid mounting losses. Hungarian soldiers also fought in various other theaters, demonstrating the empire’s extensive involvement.

The Post-War Collapse and Repercussions

Part 10/13:

As the war drew to an end in late 1918, Hungary faced a grim political reality. In October, the Hungarian government officially denounced the 1867 Austro-Hungarian Compromise, a move aligned with the disintegration of the empire. The assassination of Tisza, who was a key advocate for avoiding war, marked a turning point. A new government led by Count MihƔly KƔrolyi was established, proclaiming the Hungarian Democratic Republic on November 16, 1918, promising universal suffrage and civil liberties.

Part 11/13:

However, political chaos soon erupted, leading to conflicts such as the Hungarian-Rumanian war, which resulted in the occupation of Budapest by Romanian forces. The subsequent Treaty of Trianon imposed severe territorial and military restrictions on Hungary—limiting its armed forces to just 35,000 men and resulting in the loss of over two-thirds of its pre-war territory, including vast ethnic populations and economic resources.

The Trianon Dilemma and Historical Legacy

0

avatar

Part 12/13:

The Treaty of Trianon remains a contentious issue in Hungary's collective memory. It redrew the nation’s borders, resulting in a loss of nearly 90% of land and 60% of its population. Prominent figures like British Prime Minister Lloyd George expressed concern that the dissolution of neighboring nations could foster long-term instability, emphasizing the importance of national self-determination.

Conclusion

Part 13/13:

This overview illuminates Hungary’s complex role during World War I—from its political structure and military deployments to the profound social upheavals that followed. Despite efforts to stay out of conflict or avoid total war, Hungary was deeply embroiled, suffering immense casualties and territorial upheaval. The war’s end led to national upheaval, territorial loss, and a turbulent path forward—a testament to the profound and lasting impact of the Great War on Hungary’s history.

Part 1/15:

The Evolving Landscape of Europe in 1917: Ethnic Tensions, Military Battles, and Diplomatic Moves

As the First World War rages on, the continent of Europe is characterized by a complex mosaic of powerful nation-states, each comprising various religious, ethnic, and minority groups. Historically, these minorities have faced systemic inequality or persecution, fostering deep-seated grievances. Throughout the war, these ethnic tensions have intensified, fueling a resurgence of nationalism and demands for self-determination among oppressed groups.

The Romanian Campaign Concludes

0
0
0.000
avatar

Part 2/15:

Last week marked the end of the Romanian campaign, a significant turning point in the war's Eastern front. The fierce battles in the regions of Wallachia and Dobruja resulted in Romania's decisive defeat. German forces quickly occupied these territories, including the capital, Bucharest. The campaign concluded after four months of intense conflict, with the entire Romanian army being overwhelmed and forced to rely heavily on Russian support to continue resisting the Central Powers' advance.

0
0
0.000
avatar

Part 3/15:

German military leaders, notably the Chief of Staff Erich von Falkenhayn and Marshal August von Mackensen, received high honors for their successes. Mackensen was credited for capturing Bucharest, a feat that earned him a prestigious decoration, while Falkenhayn's strategic planning was also recognized despite some internal disagreements. Notably, there was controversy over the distribution of credit; German general Franz von Magin (referred to as "G.M.") expressed dissatisfaction, claiming his own forces bore the brunt of the fighting and that their sacrifices were underappreciated. This internal conflict highlights the complexities of wartime leadership and recognition.

Stalemates and Small-Scale Engagements on the Italian and Western Fronts

0
0
0.000
avatar

Part 4/15:

The winter of 1917 brought severe weather conditions, which heavily impacted campaigns in Italy and the Western Front. The Italian mountain front, situated at elevations reaching 2000–3000 meters, was particularly affected, with the rugged terrain and harsh climate limiting large-scale operations. An illustrative episode involved Italian troops assaulting Mount Ruma, a strategically vital peak. Climbing via ropes and ladders, they engaged in fierce combat atop the mountain, notably using natural defensive features like "teeth"—spiral-shaped rock formations and narrow ridges—to withstand Austro-Hungarian resistance.

0
0
0.000
avatar

Part 5/15:

In one remarkable scene, an Italian mountain soldier used sharp "teeth" (likely lambent rocks or natural fortifications) as cover, obstructing enemy machine-gun fire by throwing stones at the Austrian-Hungarian gunners—a vivid example of individual heroism amid the war's chaos.

Despite the overall stalemate, there was a coordinated attack on January 18th in the Carso region south of Gorizia, where Italian forces launched an offensive supported by intense artillery bombardment. The Austro-Hungarian forces mounted a counterattack in the caves near Fuggio but were repelled before they could make significant gains.

0
0
0.000
avatar

Part 6/15:

On the Western Front, small-scale but noteworthy operations persisted. Canadian troops conducted a successful raid near Calonne, crossing nearly a kilometer into German lines and destroying defensive positions, including an air raid shelter, resulting in numerous casualties, prisoners, and captured machine guns. Other Colonial, Cossack, French North African, and Indian units also participated, increasingly motivated by nationalist sentiments rather than solely military objectives.

The Arab Revolt Grows

0
0
0.000
avatar

Part 7/15:

In the Arab territories, the Arab Revolt gains momentum, with figures like Lawrence of Arabia leading assaults against Ottoman strongholds along the Red Sea near Yenbo. The insurgency is bolstered by the British, who see it as a strategic move to weaken Ottoman control in the region. The revolt underscores the growing influence of Arab nationalists, who are increasingly determined to establish independent states following the anticipated collapse of the Ottoman Empire.

Minority Nations Seek Autonomy

0
0
0.000
avatar

Part 8/15:

The war's shifting tide has emboldened various minority groups within the collapsing Austro-Hungarian and Ottoman empires. Czechs, Slovaks, Poles, and other minority nations are actively planning their future independence, hoping that the war's end will grant them sovereignty. Many Jews also see an opportunity in the weakening Ottoman Empire, aspiring for self-governance in Palestine.

0
0
0.000
avatar

Part 9/15:

In a significant diplomatic move, the Allies publicly declared in Rome their intention to support the liberation of minority nations within Austria-Hungary, pledging assistance to Poles, Czechs, Slovaks, Slovenes, Croats, Serbs, and Romanians. U.S. President Woodrow Wilson echoed this sentiment in his State of the Union address, advocating for a unified Poland with access to the Baltic Sea—a proposal soon supported by Tsarist Russia after over a century of domination.

Germany's Diplomatic Maneuver: The Zimmermann Telegram

0
0
0.000
avatar

Part 10/15:

Amid these developments, Germany’s new Foreign Minister, Arthur Zimmermann, engaged in covert diplomacy to influence the war's trajectory. On January 19th, a secret telegram was sent from Berlin to Mexico City, revealing Germany's plan to entice Mexico into the war against the United States—a strategy known as the Zimmermann Telegram. Germany promised Mexico financial aid and territorial support to recover lands lost during the Mexican-American War, including Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona.

This proposal aimed to turn Mexico into an ally if the U.S. entered the war due to Germany's resumed unrestricted submarine warfare, which threatened Allied shipping. The interception and publication of Zimmermann's message would later become a pivotal factor in U.S. decision to join the Allies.

0

Part 11/15:

The Role of Neutral Countries and Colonial Troops

Despite maintaining neutrality, Greece faces pressure from both sides of the conflict. The Allies occupy a neutral zone along Greece's northern border, establishing patrols and maintaining a fragile peace between monarchist and Venizelist factions. Greece's government ultimately accepts the Allies' ultimatum on December 31st, ending their neutrality and loosening their sovereignty under terms that included humiliating conditions.

0
0
0.000
avatar

Part 12/15:

Colonial troops from New Zealand, Australia, and Canada continue to demonstrate their valor and independence, contrasting with their previous reputation as distant, passive colonies. These troops are increasingly regarded as vital components of the Allied war effort, eager to gain recognition and independence for their nations.

The Decline of Romania and German Victories

0
0
0.000
avatar

Part 13/15:

The fall of Romania marks a critical German victory. The swift conquest over four months resulted in the occupation of the entire country, including the capital. Despite Romanian resistance supported by Russia, the defeat led to the disintegration of the Romanian army. There is debate over the military leadership's role, particularly regarding General Falkenhayn and Mackensen's achievements. General Franz von Magin criticizes the high command for monopolizing credit, especially for Mackensen's successful capture of Bucharest, emphasizing his own forces' sacrifices.

Naval Warfare and U.S. Contributions

0
0
0.000
avatar

Part 14/15:

On the naval front, the Germans claim to have sunk 191 ships—138 belonging to the Allies and 53 neutral vessels—with a total weight of approximately 408,500 tons, notably excluding any American ships. Meanwhile, American volunteer pilots contribute to the Allied air campaign, with some sacrificing their lives—such as Kaiser Lockwell and Norman Prince—fighting in France and Britain. Their efforts showcase the increasing American involvement, despite the country still maintaining official neutrality.

Conclusion: Shifting Boundaries and a Changing Europe

0
0
0.000
avatar

Part 15/15:

As the war progresses into 1917, Europe's political, territorial, and ethnic landscapes are undeniably shifting. The rising tide of nationalism among oppressed minorities threatens the old imperial order, demanding independence and self-rule. Meanwhile, military campaigns—both large and small—continue under challenging winter conditions, illustrating the war's grim endurance.

The strategic moves, diplomatic negotiations, and military victories and defeats of this period foreshadow profound changes that will reshape Europe well beyond the war's end. The emergence of new nations, the collapse of empires, and the redefinition of national identities are becoming increasingly inevitable. Whether through military conquest or political negotiation, the continent is on the brink of a new era.

I'm grateful for Thursdays.

This was pay day for my mom when I was growing up. She was a single parent raising a son on her own. We were always broke but Thursdays were such a blessing because it was the day we'd go to the grocery store and get food for the next 2 weeks.

I never had much growing up, but my mom made sure there was always food on the table. So thankful for that, and grateful for all the sacrifices she made.

Never forget where you come from. That's why all this crypto stuff....Will always be a bonus for me.

Perfect Couple showrunner leaving for season 2 which never sounds good for any show, usually means creative differences or the network wants to change everything that worked in the first season, happened to so many shows that started strong and then fell apart when new people took over, maybe its for the best though since season 1 wrapped up pretty nicely anyway, sometimes shows should just end when they are good. Denzel Washington sin interés de ganar premios, él solo quiere buenos papeles y lo dice sin filtro, no le importa los Oscar y eso me parece brutal, el tipo prefiere dejar huella con actuación real, no solo trofeos eso me encanta

The race for LEO tokens @onealfa, @leostrategy and POL. How much of the total supply will these accounts hold?

@leostrategy would definitely hold the most of Leo down the road follow by POL because the two accounts will keep buying Leo perpetually. @onealfa has done well for himself and has been very discipline in holding Leo.

Berkshire Hathaway, led by Warren Buffett, has recently invested in UnitedHealth Group despite its 40% stock decline this year. The investment aligns with Buffett's strategy, focusing on UnitedHealth's strong brand, cash flow generation, dividend growth, and stock buybacks. With a P/E ratio of 13x, near five-year lows, UnitedHealth appears undervalued, presenting a potential opportunity for value investors.

Jason Momoa teaming up with David Leitch for a pirate action movie which sounds like it could be either amazing or a complete disaster, Momoa definitely looks the part and Leitch knows how to do action but pirate movies have been hit or miss lately, at least we know there will be lots of beard and muscles and probably some really over the top boat fights, hoping its more Pirates of Caribbean and less Cutthroat Island. After mint.com shut down I have been using Simplifi by quicken. I have had a great experience with Simplifi. I do not like paying for tracking software but it has replaced all the features I was using at mint.
What tracking software do you use?

Nice to hear Simplifi's working out for you! I've been using YNAB (You Need A Budget) for tracking. It's super helpful for planning expenses, though the subscription cost bugs me too. Definitely worth a shot if you're curious

James Gunn says his DCU approach is totally different from Marvel, more like Star Wars and Game of Thrones where you build a whole universe and just pick little pieces to tell individual stories, not making every movie homework like Marvel does with all their connected bullshit, Superman already felt refreshing because it drops you into an established world without needing to watch 20 other movies first, honestly this sounds way better than Marvel's current mess where every project requires a PhD in MCU lore Read More in āž”ļø #linkincomments

Do you know DCA strategy? I use it to reach my long term goals and you can see that in my newest written blog.

Find the blog below šŸ‘‡

DCA is a solid strategy for long-term investing, especially in volatile markets like crypto. It helps smooth out the cost basis over time and reduces emotional stress from market swings. Will check out your blog for more insights on your approach

I am on it with you on that benefit of DCA. You know I did DCA in bitcoin and my average price was below 30k USD and I managed to sell it above 100k USD. DCA looks small sometimes but in long term it is the best thing without a doubt.

That's an incredible result with Bitcoin! Averaging below 30k and selling above 100k shows how powerful DCA can be over the long haul. Patience and consistency really pay off in these cycles
