LSTR is wildly underrated

With $LEO at $0.10, the fund’s initial sale is trading at a 50% discount to the value of LeoStrategy’s underlying holdings

About 10,000 LSTR is selling out each day. The initial sale will end in less than 4 days at this rate

Its gonna be fun when all is sold out!

Another interesting strategy would be:

  • Market(ing on) HP delegation as a direct alternative for HBD delegation.
  • HBD 15% vs HP => @leo.voter 19.01% (16% in $LEO + $HIVE)
  • Succesfully => HBD to Hive conversion => Higher $HIVE Price. Higher HP delegation on leo.voter => more buying pressure on $LEO => higher $LEO price:

Both chains would benefit.

@khaleelkazi any thoughts?

Hmm I’m not really clear on what you mean with this

Is it a new service or just the way we market Leo.voter delegations?

0

0.000
avatar

Just a way to market the HP delegation to leo.voter. Rather than fishing for the same HP, if we manage to get people to convert HBD for HP and delegate that - both chains get positive price pressure. Should be low hanging fruit, that might also get us some additional goodwill

0

0.000
avatar

ah I see - yeah we’re beating the 15% Apr offered by HBD

I think lions need to make more blog posts showcasing their delegation earnings and the fact that they’re making so much money by earning in LEO which is consistently increasing in value

If you factor in the rise of LEO, delegators are making like 70% APR on average right now

0

0.000

Exactly! Plus HBD rewards can compound monthly, whereas you could compound daily from leo.voter rewarda.

I will try to make a post that compares and illustrates it!

Part 1/12:

The Neutral Stand of the Netherlands During World War I

Most European countries chose sides during the First World War, participating directly in the conflict on either the Allies or Central Powers' side. However, some nations, including the Netherlands, maintained a stance of neutrality. This neutrality, while beneficial in reducing casualties, came with its own set of challenges and complexities—a topic explored in this detailed examination of the Netherlands during the war years.

Historical Context of Dutch Neutrality

0
0
0.000
avatar

Part 2/12:

The Netherlands had a long-standing policy of neutrality, dating back to 1839 with the London Protocol which officially recognized Belgian independence. Although an earlier agreement in 1831 was proposed, the Dutch government refused to sign it. Throughout the 19th and early 20th centuries, neutrality was a defining feature of Dutch foreign policy, reinforced by the country's external commitments and geopolitical position as a small nation with distant overseas colonies.

0
0
0.000
avatar

Part 3/12:

Interestingly, the Dutch elected to pursue political, independent, and armed neutrality. Politically, their neutrality was a national policy, not enshrined in a static constitution like Switzerland's. It was a conscious choice by Dutch authorities, reinforced by an armed military capable of defending the nation's neutrality, though not offensive in nature. Their military strategy was focused on static defense, including modernization efforts such as fortifying the Dutch Water Line and constructing the Amsterdam Fortress, further signaling their intent to remain uninvolved in European conflicts.

Preparing for Conflict: The Threat of German Invasion

0
0
0.000
avatar

Part 4/12:

Given the shifting alliance and tensions in Europe, especially after Germany's unification in 1871, the Dutch were acutely aware of the potential threat a future war posed. They closely monitored the escalating rivalry between France and Germany, knowing that the original Schlieffen Plan—Germany’s strategic attack plan—envisioned invading Belgium and the Netherlands as a prelude to war with France.

In anticipation, the Dutch invested heavily in defense: a quarter of their annual budget was allocated for military readiness, including modernizing their defenses and constructing the last border fortifications. They aimed to make invasion costly and difficult, relying on their prepared defense lines and military discipline.

Diplomatic Stance and Public Opinion

0
0
0.000
avatar

Part 5/12:

Throughout the years leading up to the war, the Netherlands adhered to a policy of "friendship with all, alliance with none." This stance was tested during events such as the Second Boer War when the Dutch Government remained neutral despite public sympathy for the Boer miners fighting against Britain. When war broke out in July 1914, the Netherlands mobilized its military, preparing for possible conflict, with around 200,000 soldiers ready and railways under military control.

0
0
0.000
avatar

Part 6/12:

Despite Germany’s assurances of respecting Dutch neutrality, the outbreak of war in neighboring Belgium complicated their stance. The Germans declared war on Belgium on August 4, 1914, which led to chaos and immediate security concerns within the Netherlands. The country was divided in sentiment; while the government maintained a neutral position, public opinion often leaned sympathetic toward the Belgians and the Allies.

The Humanitarian Crisis and Border Security

0
0
0.000
avatar

Part 7/12:

One of the most immediate consequences of the war was the influx of refugees. By late October 1914, an estimated one million Belgian and French refugees crossed into the Netherlands, creating a humanitarian crisis. The Dutch government scrambled to accommodate them, dispersing refugees across the country to prevent disease spread and chaos at borders. Many refugees eventually returned home post-war, but tens of thousands remained throughout the conflict, demonstrating Dutch hospitality amid crisis.

0
0
0.000
avatar

Part 8/12:

To prevent enemy infiltration and smuggling, Germany built a 200-kilometer-long electric barbed wire fence along the Dutch-Belgian border, powered by 2,000 volts, which was nicknamed "death wire." It resulted in the death of around 2,000 to 3,000 people, mostly refugees or individuals attempting to cross illegally, highlighting the tense security climate.

The Economic Impact

The Netherlands' economy before the war heavily relied on international trade, including with Britain and Germany. Their colonies supplied essential goods such as coffee, tea, and tobacco to Europe. Yet, they lacked natural resources, making the country dependent on imports for fuel and raw materials.

0
0
0.000
avatar

Part 9/12:

The war severely disrupted maritime commerce; in 1914, Dutch ports saw approximately 12,000 ships, but by 1918, this number had dropped to one-seventh. To maintain economic stability, the Dutch government implemented measures like establishing a grain monopoly and attempting to balance trade between Germany and Britain. However, the naval blockade and German unrestricted submarine warfare in 1917 nearly halted all Dutch shipping, leading to soaring food prices, rationing, and even hunger—the first real threat of famine in the country in a century.

Domestic Challenges and Political Response

0
0
0.000
avatar

Part 10/12:

The shortages and economic hardships spurred unrest within the Netherlands. In 1918, the country faced a near-famine situation, exacerbated by the fact that many of its merchant ships were demanded for war efforts. The Dutch government responded with emergency measures—rationing, protests, and political upheaval. Notably, the government faced protests over food exports and military policies, and some ministers resigned under pressure.

Despite these internal strains, the Dutch managed to avoid direct military conflict with Germany. Negotiations and diplomatic efforts, including the withdrawal of the armed Dutch resistance leader C. J. Snijder from his position, helped restore calm. The war’s conclusion saw the country stabilizing again, though the economic scars remained.

Part 11/12:

Conclusion: The Preservation of Dutch Neutrality

Ultimately, Dutch neutrality in World War I proved to be a fragile but vital policy. It was based on a combination of international law, strategic military planning, and diplomatic balancing acts. The Netherlands' ability to stay out of the war was underpinned by the shared interest of both the Central Powers and the Allies in maintaining its neutral status, preventing a broader invasion.

0

avatar

Part 12/12:

While the country faced numerous internal and external pressures—refugee crises, economic hardships, security measures—its firm stance kept it out of direct conflict. Notably, the example of the Netherlands’ neutrality during this turbulent period stands alongside Sweden as a rare example of a nation maintaining geographic and political independence amidst the chaos of the First World War.

This overview offers a condensed yet detailed account of how the Netherlands navigated the complexities of neutrality during the First World War, illustrating the strategic, humanitarian, and economic challenges faced by this small but resilient nation.

So I should have some time in the next couple of weeks to get these features finished.

Why Nature Is Disappearing Day by Day

#threadstorm #outreach

0
0

avatar

🧵/2

Nature has always been an essential part of our lives. Whether it is water, air, trees, plants, or animals, everything is very important to us because everything plays a role in our lives in some way or another, and this is what is happening in today's time. The nature which was there earlier is getting destroyed today, so all this is happening mostly due to human action, because we are exploiting nature too much, and we are cutting trees too much, we are doing deforestation, all this is slowly destroying our plants.

0
0
0.000
avatar

🧵/3

Lastly, I would like to say that it is our responsibility to take good care of nature and respect it, and we should take small steps. Like, you plant 2-4 trees every day. Water them, all these small steps will give you a good world in the future. If your nature gets destroyed, then how will you breathe? Where will you drink water? Where will you eat food? We get all these things from below, so we should think about nature, that if we get all these things, then we should not cut nature. If we are helpless, if we are cutting trees at one place, then we should plant 1,000-2,000 trees at another place, so that there is a balance between all these things.

Part 1/13:

The Curious Case of the Epstein Files: Trump, Conspiracies, and Political Chaos

Trump and the Deep State: The Never-ending Quest for Truth

In a recent interview with Fox News, Donald Trump indicated his intention to challenge the so-called "Washington Swamp" once again, promising to unveil the secrets hidden by the deep state. His rhetoric suggests a plan to expose information that powerful entities seek to keep under wraps, with the phrase "almost all the things" hinting at greater revelations on the horizon. Yet, amid this bravado lies a cloud of suspicion about what truly motivates his silence on controversial topics.

The Declassification Dilemma: What Would Trump Reveal?

0
0
0.000
avatar

Part 2/13:

When asked if he would declassify sensitive files—such as those related to 9/11, JFK, and Jeffrey Epstein—Trump's responses varied. He enthusiastically said yes to 9/11 and JFK documents, expressing a willingness to see those revelations come to light. The mention of Epstein, however, drew a hesitant "yeah, yeah, I would," followed by a less confident "I think that less so." Audience laughter reflected skepticism, as viewers noted the seeming discomfort Trump exhibited when discussing Epstein.

0
0
0.000
avatar

Part 3/13:

Trump's rationale for not fully releasing Epstein files centered around the potential harm to individuals if the information was inaccurate or misleading. He expressed concern that false or phony data could destroy reputations, emphasizing caution over transparency. Yet, critics pointed out that Trump himself had publicly associated with Epstein, or at least spent time in his social orbit, raising questions about his true level of concern.

The FBI, Conspiracies, and the Question of the Epstein Files

0
0
0.000
avatar

Part 4/13:

Kash Patel and Dan Bongino, two figures who resemble fictional henchmen from a "Ninja Turtles" movie, have taken center stage as supposed guardians of national security. Before assuming their roles, Bongino was vocal about the mysterious death of Jeffrey Epstein, asserting that Epstein "killed himself" based on his experience in detention centers. Their recent interviews echoed this certainty, as they dismissed conspiracy theories suggesting Epstein was murdered.

0
0
0.000
avatar

Part 5/13:

Bongino, claiming expertise as a former prosecutor, insisted Epstein's death was a clear-cut suicide, dismissing the question of foul play. The skepticism from the public was sharp, with critics noting that their unwavering stance appeared more aligned with conspiracy denial than genuine investigation. Meanwhile, their access to Epstein's files inevitably fueled rampant speculation about what secrets they might be hiding.

The FBI and Public Trust: The Epstein Files Drama Unfolds

0
0
0.000
avatar

Part 6/13:

Amidst claims of government transparency, the Department of Justice announced that the Epstein case was closed, stating that the client list—long speculated to include prominent figures—would not be released. This decision left many disappointed and suspicious, especially since officials had previously hinted at the existence of a real client list.

Adding fuel to the fire, the Justice Department released over ten hours of purported surveillance footage, asserting it supported the conclusion that Epstein died by suicide. However, viewers quickly pointed out discrepancies—the footage mysteriously skipped a full minute at midnight, raising questions about potential tampering or censorship.

0
0
0.000
avatar

Part 7/13:

When Trump was asked about the missing footage, his dismissive response—"This guy's been talked about for years"—highlighted his disinterest in revisiting Epstein's death. His attitude, along with official denials and selective releases, only deepened public distrust.

The Political Battle Over Epstein Files: A MAGA Civil War

The controversy surrounding Epstein's death and files sparked intense division within Trump's political base. Some supporters demanded full transparency and declassification, while others dismissed the topic altogether. The split was so deep that some MAGA followers resorted to burning their MAGA gear—a symbolic act of rebellion and frustration.

0
0
0.000
avatar

Part 8/13:

In a dramatic twist, Elon Musk publicly accused Trump on Twitter of being in Epstein's files, suggesting a connection that none could substantiate definitively. The accusation reignited conspiracy theories, and Trump's allies scrambled to clarify or sideline the issue.

Trump's Gyrating Narrative: Moving the Goalposts

Throughout the saga, Trump’s statements appeared to fluctuate wildly. Initially, he promised to declassify Epstein files, then hinted that they might be full of misinformation or faked by political enemies. Later, he claimed that the files—if they existed—were likely fabricated by Obama, Hillary Clinton, or other Democrats, concocting a narrative that the entire Epstein saga was a political hoax.

0
0
0.000
avatar

Part 9/13:

The infamous "ball in their court" phrase was met with mockery, as critics pointed out that such vague, non-committal language was typical of Trump’s rhetorical style. Meanwhile, social media erupted with memes and jokes about the chaos, including references to invading Greenland or making bizarre accusations about Rosie O'Donnell.

The Distraction Machine: Outlandish Tweets and the Art of Diversion

As public interest in Epstein’s case waned, Trump resorted to typical distraction tactics, obsessively attacking perceived enemies like Hillary Clinton, Omar, and even the Biden administration. True to form, he veered into wild accusations, claiming a deep-state conspiracy involving "obfuscation" by FBI and DOJ officials.

0
0
0.000
avatar

Part 10/13:

In a classic display of deflection, Trump pivoted from Epstein to Hunter Biden's laptop, tying unrelated controversies together in a tangled web of allegations and conspiracy theories. This shift seemed designed to divert attention from unanswered questions about Epstein’s files and the mysterious circumstances of his death.

The Fracturing of MAGA Support: An Uneasy Reckoning

Public opinion on the Epstein case within MAGA circles appeared increasingly fractured. While some demanded full transparency, others expressed frustration or outright skepticism. Polls showed many participants dissatisfied with the official explanations and eager to see the files declassified.

0
0
0.000
avatar

Part 11/13:

Some supporters went as far as to publicly burn their MAGA apparel—a symbolic gesture of disillusionment. The divide underscored the intense internal conflict within Trump’s base, with core believers clinging to conspiracy theories and others growing weary of the endless cycle of accusations and denials.

The Occam’s Razor of the Epstein Mystery

Amidst this chaos, conspiracy theorists have postulated that the simplest explanation might be that Trump has something to hide—possibly because of his longstanding connection to Epstein. Evidence of their friendship is well-documented, with Epstein’s black book containing numerous contact numbers for Trump.

0
0
0.000
avatar

Part 12/13:

Photos and testimonies reveal Epstein and Trump shared social circles, parties, and even milestones like introductions for Melania. Epstein claimed he was close to Trump for over a decade, and Trump was photographed alongside Epstein at various social events. These connections have only added fuel to the argument that Trump might be more entangled in Epstein’s story than he's willing to admit.

Final Thoughts: Why the Silence?

In the end, the labyrinthine saga of the Epstein files embodies a broader political question: why does Trump refuse to release these documents? The "Occam’s giant (beep) machete," a satirical term alluding to the most straightforward (yet often uncomfortable) explanation, suggests the simplest reason is that Trump has protection or secrets he doesn’t want exposed.

0
0
0.000
avatar

Part 13/13:

Whether motivated by concerns over reputation, political fallout, or personal connections, Trump’s apparent reluctance continues to fuel speculation and conspiracy theories. As the drama unfolds, the American public remains divided—some seeking the truth, others resigned, and many eager for the next unexpected twist in this extraordinary saga.

In the end, whether you believe the official stories or buy into the wildest of conspiracies, one thing remains clear: the mystery of Jeffrey Epstein’s death and the alleged client list is far from over. And as long as questions remain unanswered, the intrigue will persist—and so will the chaos.

The game isn't on the card. It's just a download code that your Cartridge authenticates. While it can be resold as a physical disk, the fact that the internet connection is required is really bad!! #gaming #nintendo #piracy #digital

Does it require Internet to play or just for the initial download of the game to the card?

0

avatar

I'm pretty sure the internet is only required for the download and the first time you play, but I don't know how it works. Maybe the internet will be required in weekly/monthly intervals like Denuvo's.

People underestimate the power of a limited supply, perma-locked stake with buybacks and burns via bridging

LEO is so absurdly scarce. It can easily reach $1,000+ in the multi-decade future ahead

This feels like our BTC moment when it went over $1 and people said “damn this thing might be worth buying”

Wait, hope I am not getting it wrong. The $LEO buybacks, will they stop at some point in the future?

0
0
0.000
avatar

no, just different source.

  • First 90 days feeds the POL, that buys amd stakes as sLEO.

  • After 90 days usdc rewards gets distributed - all that the POL receives will be used as buyback (and stake and repeat)

  • leostrategy will also farm usdc and use that buy more

  • all leo rewards (curation and hp delegation) are also bought back from the market.

So yeah after 90d a little changes but tge flywheels will already be set in to motion and the buy backs will remain

The implementation of a decentralized set of verifier nodes has begun, ensuring the validity of proposed plugin transactions independently. It features a comprehensive audit history of transactions per plugin and per vault while handling vaults, policies, plugins, and fees. With income generated from each signed transaction, a substantial $VULT bond, likely 1 million or more, is required. This setup eliminates a single point of failure for the Verifier and makes coordinated malicious behavior exceedingly challenging. Built on cometBFT and integrated with DKLS23 MPC from Silence Labs. 0

I have ideas for how LSTR can harvest $LEO volatility - especially amongst the pairs of LEO across other chains (using the LeoBridges) - and accrete yield to LSTR stakeholders

This yield accrues LEO daily onto the balance sheet of LSTR and that balance sheet is then utilized to acquire more and more LEO via permanent capital

LSTR is the ultimate permanent capital vehicle (PCV) and is on the cusp of financial engineering that can drive continuous purchasing power onto its balance sheet and acquire LEO using it

  1. The first revenue-generating service launches this week for LSTR
  2. The initial sale is likely to sell out in the coming days
  3. Once initial sale is sold out, the LSTR:LEO pool will go live
  4. Perhaps next week or the week after, we’ll look to launch the first volatility harvesting tool in the form of a cross-chain arbitrage bot

Ha, ha, if I tell my story here you could cry... In short: My maximum reached on last cicle was amazing: Some 190 K USD. Lather all market begins to fall, and I got lucky to be found by a Hacker and took some 40% of my Portfolio... it was already under 100K USD, the hacker took some 28K USD. Lots of other things got bad: A friend which never gave me back 1600 USD, an Investment in India (some 1300 USD) probably lost, a Pizza Investment which Cheff kicked me out, a House in Philippines which it was supposed to give some income, till now nothing... And with all that last two years my income was lower and lower. In December I began to stop paying banks and I just did Bankrupcy, hopefully it save me big interest by year. In the meantime I was with only some more than 2000 USD. Well lets see if at least the hacked amount comes back!

I think by the end of tomorrow, the initial sale will be 100% over. The only way to get LSTR will be from the LSTR:LEO pool

That's a fine option to accumulate over time. I just don't expect you to get it at a major discount relative to where its trading today

If Holding 1M HIVE locks 0.2% of supply, with ~0.3% price impact ($0.3009). Holding 1M HBD locks 10% of supply, greatly boosting Hive’s stability. HIVE supports price growth; HBD strengthens the system’s economic foundation.

0

And If Holding 1M LEO locks ~10% of its supply—much higher impact than HIVE. This can drive scarcity, boost price, and stabilize the reward pool. LEO’s smaller market means even modest holding shifts have big ecosystem effects.

The only way AI can improve is by working on more data. That is what AI feeds on and that is what improves it.

True, data is the fuel for AI, but imagine if guilt could make it self-correct ethical missteps. Might add a layer of accountability beyond just raw input-output optimization

Another LSTR revenue-generation idea: running MayaNodes, THORChain Nodes and ChainFlip broker instances

LeoStrategy can operate these, generate revenue with a management fee while paying ~80% of the revenue back to participants

The other 20% (management fee) buys LEO daily and adds to LeoStrategy's sLEO balance sheet which then earns USDC from LeoDex and buys more LEO daily

If you haven't caught on to the fact that LeoStrategy is the ultimate Financial Layer we've wanted to build on top of LEO, then I can't help you

This is the future

I am not surprised

Some people seem to be surprised that the price of $LEO is climbing so fast but think about this:

  • LEO is deflationary
  • HIGH buying pressure of SIRP / POL / LSTR
  • LIMITED sell orders on the books
  • LIMITED LEO in liquidity pools

Enjoy the ride!

Yeah, I think it was a bit extreme. Drinks can be social and fun, but I get the concern about overdoing it. Maybe they wanted to curb excess during tough times like war. Still seems like an odd way to control things tho

Don’t get me wrong, this is a good idea in general and makes a lot of sense, but imo the current “state” of HIVE would cause this to be looked at in a very adverse fashion. Could create a lot of unnecessary headache, not because it should but because a lot of Hivers would try to blame LEO for there problems, specifically token price

Part 1/11:

The Spectacle of War in Spring 1916: A Look Beyond the Trenches

As spring arrived in 1916, the world was immersed in the relentless chaos of the Great War, yet the skies over Europe told a story of their own — one of terror, innovation, and strategic maneuvering. From towering Zeppelins hovering ominously over Britain to fierce battles on the ground and sea, the week’s events unveiled the multifaceted nature of total war.

Zeppelins Strike Over Britain: A New Dimension of Warfare

avatar

Part 2/11:

Between March 31 and April 5, London and its northeastern coast faced nearly daily aerial bombardments. German Zeppelins roamed the skies, targeting the eastern and northeastern shores of England from Leith to Edinburgh. Nearly 100 civilians lost their lives, with over 200 injured. The primary objective appeared to be reconnaissance, aiming to locate the main British naval fleet. However, these airships often deviated before pinpointing the target, revealing the Germans’ uncertain but persistent hope of crippling the British navy.

Part 3/11:

The German Naval Command had not abandoned its ambitions, continuing to hope that Zeppelin raids and submarine attacks could lure the Royal Navy into open confrontation. Although the plan was fraught with difficulties and did not succeed as hoped, these aerial attacks stretched British resources and morale while marking a significant evolution in the aerial dimension of warfare.

Aerial Battlefields Expand: The Skies Over the Mediterranean

Part 4/11:

Not only Britain’s skies faced bombardment; elsewhere, intense aerial combat was underway. On April 4, over Ancona, a skirmish between Austrian and Italian aircraft resulted in three Austrian planes shot down and two Italians heavily damaged. Data from March indicated that German air losses were relatively lower, with only 14 planes lost compared to 44 belonging to British and French forces, emphasizing the ongoing aerial contest.

The aerial theater also witnessed strategic bombing. On April 7, Bulgarian and Austrian planes heavily bombed Thessaloniki (Salonika), damaging Allied positions and igniting fires, demonstrating how air power was becoming crucial in shaping regional conflicts.

Naval Engagements and Bombings in the Balkans

Part 5/11:

Amidst the aerial warfare, naval confrontations persisted. In late March, German aircraft attempted to attack Allied ships in the port of Thessaloniki but were repelled by intense artillery fire, resulting in the sinking of four planes despite some bombs hitting their targets and killing 20 Greek civilians. This incident inflamed anti-German sentiments across Greece, with protests and chants of “Away with Germany!” at funerals.

Greece’s political and economic stability suffered as the country mobilized its military, leading to dire economic consequences. The government’s mobilization efforts caused inflation, shortages, and unrest, particularly among fishermen, whose reduced catches further strained civilian supplies.

The Frontlines: Trench Warfare and Desperate Battles

0

avatar

Part 6/11:

Meanwhile, treading the old war’s bloody soil, the Battle of Verdun persisted into its sixth week. The German Emperor boldly declared that the struggle at Verdun would end the war, echoing the deadly intensity of the original Franco-Prussian conflict. Yet, German soldiers showed signs of exhaustion; many suffered heart attacks, and the front line morale waned as veteran fighters were replaced by inexperienced young troops.

Despite the fatigue, the Germans succeeded in capturing vital positions at Haucourt and Bethincourt, advancing their territorial gains. However, they also faced stiff resistance, and the battle devolved into grueling attrition, with both sides suffering irreplaceable losses. The chaos and brutality epitomized the war’s devastating toll on human life.

Part 7/11:

The Eastern Front: Russians Advance Toward Trabzon

Far from the Western Front, Russian forces continued their eastward push in Anatolia. On June 2, they crossed the Chorokh River, capturing Ottoman positions, while on June 6, they forced the Turks to retreat across the Kara Dere River near Trabzon. Supporting this advance, 5,000 Cossacks were landed by sea to bolster the campaign.

These military achievements brought the Russians tantalizingly close to the vital Black Sea port of Trabzon, threatening Ottoman control in the region. Such progress underscored the dynamic and shifting nature of the Eastern Front, which remained a significant aspect of the broader conflict.

Civilian Suffering and Political Turmoil

0

avatar

Part 8/11:

The war’s toll extended beyond the battlefield into civilian populations. In Beirut, Lebanese Maronite Yusuf al-Hani was executed after his group discussed inviting French intervention to aid Lebanon’s independence. His execution symbolized the Arab world’s fraught relationship with the Great War and colonial powers.

In Belgium, the execution of Marie Gabrielle Petit, a Belgian resistance fighter and distributor of underground newspapers, highlighted the brutal repression of dissent. Her efforts to smuggle recruits and resist German occupation embodied the resilience of occupied peoples.

The Human Cost and the Myth of Romanticized Air Combat

0

0.000
avatar

Part 9/11:

Throughout the week, civilians across Greece, France, and across occupied territories suffered through bombings, executions, and shortages. Yet, one of the most iconic images of this era—the dogfights above the trenches—remained a mixture of myth and brutality. Figures like the “Red Baron” and René Fonck fought boldly in the skies, often romanticized as chivalrous aviators. But in reality, air combat was a deadly slaughter, with pilots often facing overwhelming odds, and the destruction wrought by Zeppelins and planes was anything but noble.

0
0
0.000
avatar

Part 10/11:

The romantic image of flying knights versus the harsh truth: air warfare was mass murder in the skies. Zeppelins and aircraft delivered terror rather than heroism, and the skies above Europe and the Mediterranean became arenas of death and destruction.

Conclusion: A War in Every Dimension

Spring 1916 exemplified how World War I had become a total conflict—on land, sea, and air, involving civilians, militaries, and international powers. From aerial terror campaigns and brutal trench battles to political upheavals and civilian suffering, each theatre contributed to an overarching narrative of destruction.

avatar

Part 11/11:

As we look back, it’s clear that the reality of the war was far darker and more complex than the romanticized images of aerial combat and heroic deeds. It was an all-consuming conflict that reshaped nations and lives in ways that persisted long after the trenches silenced.
