The Power of Mindset, Our Beliefs Shape Our Future

Some years ago, I was going to the market for my mom when a man approached me. When he first approached me, in my mind I was like who is this old man trying to toast, but he have something else in mind. He told me noticed me and saw potential, he said he liked my body structure becaus I was slender with long legs. He asked me what I think about the possibility of modeling. He said he can help me because he have a modelling company and will like to sponsor. Then, he showed me magazines filled with pictures of celebrities and beautiful women who had worked with him.

At that time, I didn’t fully understand everything he said, but one thing was clear, he said he saw something in me. He saw potential, and he wanted to help me tap into it. I told him I will get back to him when I told my parents about it.

I went home that day and shared the experience with my older sister. Her response was immediate and harsh. She shut me down without hesitation. She said girl when will you start using your brain, you think there is any free help, that potential he saw in you was how to destroy life and turn you into one of his whore. I don’t want you to be a victim. And moreover, modelling will expose you to many things unholy, I don't want you to be corrupt.
In that moment, I felt like I was brainwashed because I agreed with her and let go of everything. I was young, and I didn’t know much. Fear quickly entered my mind, and I began to see that man and the opportunity he offered as a path that would pull me away from the right path to the abyss. His calls, which came regularly, went unanswered.

But now, when I sometimes look back, I always wonder what if? What if I hadn’t let fear, or that moment of poor advice, block my potential? Would I have made it further in life? Would I have grown into the person I wanted to be? But the question was always left unanswered. This experience has shaped my mindset, and I’ve come to realize how much our mindset defines our lives. We are all products of the way we think.

In life, our thoughts have immense power. The things we think and the beliefs we hold shape who we are, how we live, and what we can achieve.

We have to be mindful of the advice we take and who advises you. A wrong piece of advice can cost you more than you’re willing to give. And it’s important to understand that sometimes, the people offering this advice means no harm, they just don’t have the mindset needed to support the kind of future that you’re capable of achieving.

There are times in life when we pray for opportunities, but when they come, we reject them because they don’t look the way we expected. Sometimes, the obstacles in our way are not external. They aren’t the devil blocking our path, they are the fears and mindsets we carry with us, often from those who love us but simply don’t understand the full picture. Conditioning, fear, and outdated thinking can hold us back in ways we never imagined.

That is why it is important to invest in the right mindset. Our beliefs shape our reality. When we learn to challenge outdated and limiting beliefs, when we open our minds to new possibilities, we unlock doors we never knew existed.
The road to success isn’t always straightforward. But by investing in a mindset that embraces opportunity, and growth, we can create a future that’s not limited by fear or poor advice.

Thank for checking on my post and have a wonderful day
