LOH 255 // A Fixer-up Is My Choice

Hello everyone, how are you all doing. This week contest is so amazing and since I've got to choose, here is My Choice.

Since I've worked really hard and finally earned enough to buy a house. The excitement, the possibilities, the dream, everything is now all within reach and it's time to make a big decision, and it’s not as straightforward as I have hope.

Here I am, standing at a fork in the road with two very different houses at either end, by my right side, there is this big, beautiful house. A place that has clearly seen better days but even though it is old, it still holds so much charm and potential. It has a high ceilings, the windows are grand, spacious rooms, and if look very well it got “future masterpiece” written all over it without needing anyone to spell it out. But the thing is It needs a lot work. From Plumbing, electrical, changing of roofing, and all that But because of all this condition, the price is comfortably within the budget, very low.

And on the other side, there is another house, smaller than the previous one and not as striking or spacious like the one by my right side but it is solid and clean. Everything in it is updated, functioning, and it is ready to be moved in anytime and It is the definition of convenience. No hammering, no painting, no waiting months to make it livable. But the convenience comes with a little high price. It's significantly more expensive, let say like times two of the other one.

But since I've got to choose, For me, I’d go with the first one, the big, beautiful fixer-upper without minding how much it will cost me for it to worth living in and it's not because I enjoy the smell of sawdust or want to take on extra stress, but because I see it as an opportunity.

I will buy the old one ant redesign it to my own taste. There is nothing bad about getting a ready made, a move-in ready house but there is something deeply satisfying about taking something old and giving it a new life. A fixer-upper will lets me infuse my personality into every corner of the house. This is not just me buying a home, it is about me building the one that fits my lifestyle, my tastes and my story.

The process might take longer, and yes, it requires patience, energy, and a good chunk of the budget for renovations. But it will all worth it in the end because I would end up created something that is truly mine.

Thanks for checking on my blog and have a wonderful day
