Dying Malls In Bekasi
This morning I went to the center of city of Bekasi. There are some malls there. A few years ago before covid, the malls were always crowded. There were thousands of visitors everyday. The retailers from daily needs , electronics, computers, were open from 9 in the morning to 10 in the evening.
People went shopping and had meal at restaurants. There were also movie theaters that were always full of visitors.
Now it is very different. Those malls are dying. I went to the mall at 11 o'clock in the morning. There were only a few visitors. I wanted to buy some software for my student's laptop. I went to the second floor of BCP. There were some computer and software stores but the visitors were only a few.
I took a public transportation. I stopped in the parking area. From there, I could see the ad boards were empty. The videotron board was also off.
Then, I went to the second floor where there were many computer stores. I found the floor was quiet It was different from a few years ago. Here, the visitors were full in the past. Today, there were a few people who bought second hand laptop. Others got their laptop upgraded or repaired.
Here was one of the store behind me. There were no customers who came.
I stood on the guardrail. I could see that the stores had no customers. I talked to one of the store clerk. He said there were many computer retailers who closed their stores here because the income could not pay the rent of the space.
I walked around. I looked for stores that sell Ms frontpage but I could not find it. Then I decided to call my friend. He told me to download from the internet and crack the key.
I got no the software to install, then I decided to get down and went to the parking area. I sit and had a cigarette.
There were a lot of vacant chairs in front of the food courts. I walked and sit on a bench on the side of the street. I decided to go home.
On the way home, I thought about how malls were dying. Now, there are a lot of online shops. People tend to change their way to shop. They buy products online from marketplace or online stores. I thought it was one of the reasons why some malls in Bekasi are dying.
Online shopping is very popular nowadays, we can save time and no hassle about traffic, but we should choose the right and legit online stores. 😊
That is right, online shopping now dominate the marketplace. Is this just a trend? I think people will miss the crowd someday.
Yay! 🤗

It looks similar to the kind of malls we have here in the Philippines, and I think it's really great to take some time walking around a mall.
Getting crowd in a mall is something fun in the past. We can see various entertaintment from music to clown show. Cinema was always fully booked. I hope the situation will be better in the coming years.
