Tithe paying started in the old testament where God commanded the eleven out of the twelve tribes of Israel to pay tithes to the tribe of Levi as a result of having no inheritance in the land God promised them. The Levis are priests that take care of the temple of God so receiving tithes from other tribes of Israel became their inheritance. As Christians we have the obligation to pay tithes to priest who takes care of the temple of God. In the new testament Jesus became our only high priest who defeated death and have the power to give and have eternal life. So to those who are truly chosen by God to take care of the sheep in His temple became His priest and receive tithe. As Christians paying of tithe is a way of showing God that we love Him.

It is also a way of showing God we honour Him and respect Him. Tithe paying is not something that is done by compulsion or by force rather it is something that is done willingly. The bible said when we pay our tithe it removes devourers and releases heavenly blessings for our sake.
As Christians we ought to pay our tithes so that there will be meat in the house of the Lord.
