Homecoming Moments We Will Cherish Forever
Happy Saturday Hivers!
Whenever someone from our family comes home, whether from abroad or not, we always get excited. Of course, who wouldn’t be excited when we rarely see each other? Whenever we get the chance to meet, we make the most of the time by talking and catching up.
When we found out that our sibling from Australia was coming home, we siblings agreed to pick her up. Since it was meant to be a surprise for our parents, we did not bring our mom and dad with us.
Luckily, the schedule of their arrival fell on a holiday, so there was no need to file for leave.
Since we arrived a bit early, we still had time to talk and take some pictures. Her arrival was slightly delayed, so we just enjoyed the moment chatting together.
I wasn’t able to take pictures when we saw them because we were all so surprised. We thought she would be coming home alone, but she surprised us by arriving with her husband.
When we arrived at the subdivision gate, we waited for our other siblings since we came in separate rides. We wanted to arrive home together to surprise our father, while our mother was in Leyte.
When we arrived home, our father was sitting outside the house. He was surprised to see us getting out of the car and took a while to react when he saw our youngest. He told us that the moment he saw our youngest, he thought to himself, it really looks like Nika. Nika is our youngest.
It is really different with parents as they sometimes get upset when you surprise them. We were used to the tradition in the Philippines of doing mano when we arrive home. When our youngest did mano, our father said, why did you not tell me that you were coming home? We all laughed and told him, we wanted to surprise you.
He was very happy seeing all his children together. We could see on his face how overjoyed he was.
After the surprise, we went inside the house. My sister got busy opening her luggage, everyone was chatting and having fun while receiving pasalubong, especially the chocolates.
This is really how it is here in the Philippines whenever someone comes home, there are always pasalubong. Is it the same for you too? Most of the pasalubong are perfume, shirts, bags, and chocolates.
Our youngest also ordered some food because the next day was actually my birthday, but since it was a working day, we celebrated in advance.
Even though it was not yet 7 p.m., we already started eating because we were so hungry. Some of us had eaten very little during lunchtime, the reason we were hungry.
This is how much fun we have whenever we gather together. We laugh, tease each other, and our father enjoys watching us so much. Now that she has gone back to Australia, we already miss her.
Thank you for reading and see you on my next blog. Cheers!
