Back in the Garden: What I Found After Days Away

Happy Saturday Hivers!

After almost a week of being unable to visit our garden because I was sick, I’m finally back. I truly missed spending time here, and it feels wonderful to be surrounded by our plants again.

While I was away, my mom was the only one taking care of the garden. Because of that, I had no idea how much the plants had grown or whether they had already been attacked by insects. Our garden is home to many insects, so I was excited.

Recently, it has been raining almost every day because of Super Typhoon Bavi. Thanks to the frequent rain, we were able to save time since we didn't have to water the plants ourselves. As we all know, plants tend to grow much faster during the rainy season. Have you noticed that too?

Now, let's take a walk around the garden and see how has been growing!

Last week, the calamansi fruits were still very small. When I checked them today, I was amazed at how much they had grown. They are now bigger and look healthy. Aside from the growing fruits, I also noticed that the tree is producing more flowers. I hope these blossoms will develop into plenty of new fruits. It's exciting to know that we have another harvest to look forward to.

Next, I went over to check our long chili plant. Just last week, the chilies were still small, so I was pleasantly surprised to see how much they had grown. This plant is incredibly productive, with so many chilies hanging from its branches.

My younger brother even asked, "Why don't you harvest them already?" My mom smiled and replied, "We'll harvest them only when we need them so they're always fresh." I think that's one of the best things about having a home garden, you can pick vegetables only when you're ready to cook them, ensuring they're as fresh as possible.

When I turned toward the flower garden, I couldn't help but say, "Wow!" The flowers had finally bloomed, and they looked absolutely beautiful. Seeing them first thing in the morning brings such a peaceful and refreshing feeling. It instantly brightens my day.

I remember reading a book that said, "Create your own sanctuary." Looking around our garden now, I realized that my mom and I have done exactly that. We've created our own little sanctuary, a place where we can relax, enjoy nature, and appreciate the beauty that grows around us.

Thank you for reading and see you on my next blog. Cheers!

It's a marcotted plant @teacherlynlyn , which is why the trunk is relatively small but it produces a lot of fruit. That's one of the main reasons I like marcotted plants, they bear fruit much earlier and are often very productive despite their size.
