El Pueblito Paisa: A trip to the heart of antioquian tradition at the summit of Medellín

"Hello again! I'm here to present my post for day #13 in the #Hive14challenge and I want to tell you about my experience visiting El Pueblito Paisa, high up on the mountain in Medellín. Incredibly, this isn't just an architectural replica; rather, it’s a small space that encapsulates the essence, culture, and tradition of the old towns of Antioquia, all nestled in the heart of Medellín. It is strategically located at the top of Cerro Nutibara, about 80 meters above the average level of the city, and if you haven't been, I highly recommend you treat yourself to this place full of magic.

One of the guides told us that the small town was inaugurated in 1978. This place is a faithful representation of what a traditional Antioquian municipality looked like at the beginning of the 20th century. Its cobblestone streets, houses with clay tile and wooden roofs, and brightly colored facades. It truly is a place full of so much color that transported me back to rural life of yesteryear. Curiously, the construction was carried out using elements and materials rescued from the old town of El Peñol, which was flooded to create the El Peñol-Guatapé reservoir.

The visit to Pueblito Paisa offers a rich combination of activities. I took the time, in addition to dancing because there was live music, to also eat and walk through every space, tour its central plaza, visit its church, and sit by the fountain in the center of the plaza.

The place has small shops where you can buy local handicrafts, souvenirs, and enjoy typical Antioquian cuisine. Something else I really enjoyed was that, being at the top of Cerro Nutibara, Pueblito Paisa has one of the most spectacular 360-degree panoramic views of the Aburrá Valley and the development of Medellín, ideal for photography lovers.

Hey, and something you can't miss doing is visiting the City Museum, which is in the same Cerro Nutibara complex. It tells the urban and social history of Medellín through photographic exhibitions and a large model of the Antioquian capital, as well as the Carlos Vieco Theater, an open-air cultural space.

Something you need to know if you plan to go up is that access to Pueblito Paisa is free and it is open to the public every day, typically from 5:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. I recommend taking the climb up the hill on foot, as the reserve has ecological trails that allow you to enjoy its biodiversity. However, the most recent renovation, carried out between 2019 and 2020, sought to align the space with Medellín's vision as an eco-city, promoting green areas and sustainable mobility.

El Pueblito Paisa is a mandatory stop for those looking to connect with the authenticity and folklore of the Antioquian culture without leaving the city, while also offering an unparalleled viewpoint of the modern Paisa capital."

Hola de nuevo estoy por aquí para presentar mi post del día #13 en el reto #Hive14challenge y quiero contarles de mi expeiencia conociendo El Pueblito Paisa allá en lo alto de la montaña en Medellín. Increíblemente, esto no es solo una réplica arquitectónica; más bien es un espacio pequeño que encapsula la esencia, la cultura y la tradición de los pueblos antiguos de Antioquia, todo ello enclavado en el corazón de Medellín. Ubicado estratégicamente en la cima del Cerro Nutibara, a unos 80 metros sobre el nivel promedio de la ciudad y si no has ido te recomiendo que por favor te regales conocer este lugar llenito de magia.

Uno de los guías del lugar nos contó que el pueblito fue inaugurado en 1978. Este lugar es una fiel representación de cómo lucía un municipio tradicional antioqueño a inicios del siglo XX. Sus calles empedradas, las casas con techos de teja de barro y madera, y las fachadas pintadas de colores vivos. De verdad es un lugar lleno de muchísimo color que me transportó a la vida rural de antaño. Curiosamente, la construcción se realizó utilizando elementos y materiales rescatados del antiguo pueblo de El Peñol, el cual fue inundado para crear el embalse El Peñol-Guatapé.

La visita al Pueblito Paisa ofrece una rica combinación de actividades yo me di la tarea de además de bailar, porque había música en vivo, también comí y me caminé todos los espacios, recorrí su plaza central, visité su iglesia y me senté en la fuente en el centro de la plaza.

El lugar hay pequeñas tiendas donde se pueden comprar artesanías locales, souvenirs y disfrutar de la gastronomía típica antioqueña. Algo que también me disfruté mucho fue que al estar en la cima del Cerro Nutibara, el Pueblito Paisa tiene una de las vista panorámica espectaculares de 360 grados del Valle de Aburrá y el desarrollo de Medellín, ideal para los amantes de la fotografía.

Epa y algo que no puedes dejar de hacer es visitar el Museo de Ciudad que está en el mismo complejo del Cerro Nutibara. Ahí se cuenta la historia urbana y social de Medellín a través de exposiciones fotográficas y una gran maqueta de la capital antioqueña, así como el Teatro Carlos Vieco, un espacio cultural al aire libre.

Algo que tienes que saber si vas a subir es que el acceso al Pueblito Paisa es gratuito y está abierto al público todos los días en un horario, típicamente desde las 5:00 a.m. hasta las 11:00 p.m.. Te recomiendo aprovechar la subida al cerro a pie, ya que la reserva cuenta con senderos ecológicos que permiten disfrutar de su biodiversidad. Sin embargo, la remodelación más reciente, llevada a cabo entre 2019 y 2020, buscó alinear el espacio con la visión de Medellín como ecociudad, promoviendo zonas verdes y movilidad sostenible.

El Pueblito Paisa es una parada obligatoria para quienes buscan conectar con la autenticidad y el folclor de la cultura antioqueña sin salir de la urbe, ofreciendo a la vez un mirador inigualable de la moderna capital paisa.
